go check out the Q&A on the tv licence website, they have never taken anyone to court using detector van evidence either

I often wonder how the generel public can be so stupid to think a private firm could "fine" them.
Because most of them don't come on here and don't realise they can ignore them. I'll admit to not knowing this myself until I came on here and pepipoo, quite a revelation.

  • I have just emailed Nick Conrad, the show's presenter/host re this thread. Perhaps he will invite Andre back onto his show and ask him some more questions? :)

Claire Biggie, 21, parked at the Chinese take-away and said: “I’m a student nurse who doesn’t have much money as it is, but I paid the fine as I like to think I’m an honest citizen. But it isn’t fair what’s happening.”

What a total idiot Claire Biggie must be. Sorry Claire, just Google it next time you get an unexpected invoice from a random company. Not heard of scams?

Now that a couple of people have used the comments section on the edp story to point people here, hopefully there will be a lot more people aware that these are not fines.

I really do not think that it is fair or helpful to call people 'stupid' or 'idiots' for not understanding that these are not fines. If people see something that looks official, they often do not question whether it is correct or not, so would not even think to look at places like this.

I know what you are saying but come on. Why would anyone just pay like some gullible idiot? A young student nurse as well, who must be computer savvy, but never even thinks to Google the company when they demand money from her out of the blue?

Some people really do have more money than sense. Hope she doesn't work in a hospital near me if that's the level of her mind. Sorry but I come on here every single day and am gobsmacked by some people's willingness to be parted from their money by a protection racket. Yes it looks official, we know it does, but honestly? Just paying it and then telling the local paper like it's a good thing to be a mug?!

I know you feel strongly CM but there's little to be gained by getting annoyed about it. If they've made the decision to pay an invoice which would be laughed out of court, that's their problem.

You & others on this board have saved so many people from paying private parking tickets but we have to be realistic that 100% success simply isn't realistic or achievable. We can only try to educate and urge people to spread the word.
