I'm looking to upgrade my phone to a n95.
I've checked out orange's site (i'm currently with orange) and they do the dolphin deal with unlimited texts, about 600 minutes, magic number and £100 free credit with the phone costing £89.99 at £35/month.
I'll probably get this but I was wondering if anyone knows any alternatives I can mention on the phone to get the price down or any general tips to squeeze the best deal out of orange?
Hi Tony,
As an existing customer you may get offered a much better deal than that by phoning up and threatening to cancel. Make sure you get put through to the cancellations/retentions dept (call 150 then press 1 followed by 4 followed by 3.) They basically can discount any of the tariffs by £15 but some of the web tariffs have a few more minutes/texts than the ordinary tariffs.
I was recently offered a N95 for £64.99 with the following tariffs:
500 mins unlimited texts with magic number and broadband for £20 p/m
700 mins, 100 texts, free calls to landlines, magic number and broadband for £20 p/m
850 mins, 300 texts, unlimited free calls to landlines, magic number and
broadband for £25 p/m
Whether you are offered this or not may depend on your usage - if you are a low user they might not offer it but they should if you are a medium to high user or you've ever had a larger bill at any point in the last year. I would phone up cancellations and see if they offer you one of these deals - they should be able to offer any of the regular tariffs discounted by £15 p/m.

Its more than I’m paying now a month, and probably a bit more than I would like to pay a month….but I’ve just had my landline taken out as I was hardly using it so I need to switch to something that has free anytime minutes anyways rather than just off peak which I have at the mo.
Please let me know what you think about this deal / company.
Hi cronemeister,
I don't know anything about fones4free.com but I do think you could get a slightly better deal than that. You would have to think about going for a cashback deal though - both e2save and thephonespot are part of The Carphonewarehouse so they are at the more reputable end of the cashback scale but you do need to be very organised to go for a cashback deal.
I've seen an N95 for free with 800 anytime mins/500 texts working out at £31.66 p/m after cashback on Thephonespot - details here (also if you go through quidco you will get £50 from the phonespot which would bring it down to £28.88 p/m all in.) Or you can get the same tariff from E2save for £32.22 - details here (with the £46.50 quidco you can get this would work out at £29.64 p/m all in.) This tariff is with 02 but there's nothing to stop you cancelling your current contract with 02 and starting up a new one (if you wanted to keep your number though you would have to port it to a PAYG sim on another network and then port it back to 02 as you can't port between a network.)
I would check these deals out before making any decisoins if I were you and it just depends on how you feel about cashback deals - the phonespot deal would save you £110 over the fones4free deal plus give you 300 more mins so it's worth thinking carefully about.

mleonard,
Apologies for being dense, but how do you get it down to £26? They seem around £35, and no mention of the cashback at all?
Or is this via quidco or similar?
Thanks

Hi E.M.,
No you're not being dense at all - it seems they've put the prices up since yesterday  It was definitely £26 last night but now the cheapest seems to be £31.66 - I don't know whether it was just an error last night but it came up on a comparison website too so. There is quidco available with both deals though which I'd forgotten about so I've updated my above post to include the new prices and the quidco too. Thanks for letting me know.

Please read mymobilephonereviews.co.uk before buying the Nokia N95.
I wish I had, it is bogged down with software problems from low battery, NO GPS functioning AT ALL, callers not hearing you and the phone constantly rebooting itself even when untouched.
If you DO still to go with it do return if noticing problems before your 14 days are up and not foolishly like me accepting thinking 'but it does so much, what do I expect'
This phone was simply rushed out to beat the competition - bugs and all!
Good Luck!0 -
I want to use the voip service. As far as I am aware orange and voda have disabled that on there n95 handsets. If I get it on orange and unlock it, would it then enable the voip feature?
I have also seen them go on ebay but I am not sure how much and if it is possible to unlock it to all networks. Does anyone have the prices to unlock the n95 on the 4 networks?0
