Can I claim on a closed account, no account number?

Yes! Just send a DPA request letter with as much detail as possible, ie. full name, date of birth, approximate account open/close dates (which you could probably obtain from your credit reference files), address details etc. along with the £10 cheque / postal order.

Hello, Sorry if this questions has already been asked. I used to have a credit card with EGG. The account is now closed and I am trying to reclaim all my charges. I have sent the letter as suggested and they are telling me that my account number is indeterminate, this is a number that i found printed on an old bank account statement as a reference number. I have also moved several times since holding this account. Please can someone advise me what to do next. Thanks !

Hello,

I was in dire straights a few years ago and built up debts with egg and goldfish. I eventually got back on track and closed off the accounts. I know I paid a fortune in charges but now have no details of the accounts. Does anyone know how I can claim without my account details?

Myself & my previous partner had a joint account with A&L. I have recently had this account closed down and upgraded to a premier account, in my name alone.

So I have a few questions really. Firstly, can I still claim my charges back, and would it still be easy to retrieve my previous statements even though the account has recently been closed ?
And if so would I need the signature of my ex partner to make the claim?

I have hundreds I could reclaim, that I have paid within the last six years, but I am not sure if the credit card providers will allow it?

i have so far helped three friends with reclaiming bank charges, one successfull two pending. another friend is after my help but no longer has the account, can you claim against a closed account, also this person declared themselves bankrupt, does this stop them being able to claim...?

How does one alter the charges request template letter for a closed Halifax credit card account i.e. where do I put in relavant information and what to put instead of "Re. Account number".
