  • I closed my bank account with Barclays about 6 months ago when I thought people could no longer claim. Am I still entitled to make a claim for my unfair bank charges?
  • Hello
Can anyone tell me if it possible to claim back credit card charges where an account is closed?

Full name, address, and DOB should be enough for them to identify you.

Yes you can. If you no longer have the account number and branch sort code please send the bank or credit card company your name with any changes that may have happened, any relevant addresses and your date of birth and this should help them trace your account.

As always read Martin's article and then read it again before you start your claim and you'll find the addresses you need along with lots of other very useful information in the Reclaim Help Thread which is linked in my signature.

I had a couple of accounts with Lloyds and both went into default, then we managed to raise some monies to clear our debts, and made "full and final settlement" payments against these accounts.

Can I still claim any unlawful charges.?

Yes you can claim, if it was excessive charges and not interest. They may make it harder. Do it in writing, show that you mean business - make sure the grammar and spelling is spot on, so they don't feel so inclined to fob you off.

I have decided to try and reclaim the charges that I had had on a few credit cards over the last few years. These cards are all paid off and the accounts closed. My problem is I no longer have any account numbers for these accounts. (have moved several times). Is there anyway that I can reclaim just by sending a covering letter with all my previous address details?
    Thanks in advance.
