I closed my Abbey account around 18 months ago because of the ludicrous charges to my account.
My question is, will I be able to claim back these charges even though I closed my account with Abbey & now bank elsewhere?
I have my previous Abbey account info - but will they penalise me for no longer banking with them? Is there a writen rule that because I have closed my account I have indirectly made a "final settlement", or jepodised any opportunity in reclaiming these charges with them?
Apologies for being nieve & many thanks in advance.0 -

I claimed on my barclays account after I had closed it due to the terrible fees they were charging me and got it all back!0

I want to reclaim charges on an old BOS account which I closed a few years ago, but I don't have any account details any longer.
How should I go about getting these? Do I need to provide them with id, or are details of previous addresses, mother's maiden name etc adequate?
Thanks0 -

I had the same problem, go into the bank with ID and provide them all security information and they will give u the details you need. Then you need to request the bank charges info from the bank so you know what your claiming for.No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!

Is it possible to reclaim bank charges from a closed down PO account? If so how long do they keep statements?0
-
yes it is, you only get to claim back six years of charges so contact them right away requesting some bank statements if you dont have them and sometimes u have to pay £10 fee for this, i didn't have to but some people do.
Then you need to write a letter to the bank requesting charges back with dates and amounts of when the charges were taken and request interest as sometimes they pay interest on top, even out of court. No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!
