  • As long as the account WAS in use during the last 6 years you can make a claim on it.
I Reject your reality and substitute my own.

When life gives you lemons, throw em back and say you want CASH instead!
  • I closed a joint bank account 12 months ago. I held the account for 5 years and there were numerous charges placed on it.
Can I still reclaim back all the charges?
I am still with the same bank and have one other joint account and personal account with them.

  • Hi i closed my credit card account and moved the balance to a lower rate interest card last year. However I now want to claim the unfair charges from the old closed account.

What do i do to find out the card account details?
Do i have to write or can i phone (its the A&L Bank)
Once I have the details and I write to them with my initial request for 6 years ect... do i have to confirm with them that the account is now closed? Is there a special letter for this or can i just use the same templates for the open accounts?

Sorry lots of question but I hope someone can help.

    Thank you
  • Business account or bank account? The answer is yes on both but with the bank account it is still subject to the current OFT test Case action

Yes you can. If you no longer have the account number and branch sort code please send the bank or credit card company your name with any changes that may have happened, any relevant addresses and your date of birth and this should help them trace your account.

As always read Martin's article and then read it again before you start your claim and you'll find the addresses you need along with lots of other very useful information in the Reclaim Help Thread which is linked in my signature.

As above but always remember that if there is any debt due to the bank/credit card then any monies reclaimed will be put towards the debt held by the bank/credit card.

a friend of mine has asked me to help her to claim back credit card charges the problem being that her debt on the card is being collected by a collecting agency or something like that. is it still possible to claim the charges back from the c/c company i know it would only get taken off the balance she owes but this would help her
  • Would I still be eligible even though I closed the account in question last year?

It would be about a £100 or so, but that's a lot of money to me.:rotfl:
    Cheers.

    Yes you can
  • Hi there, my girlfriend closed her HSBC account last summer because they were charging her an awful amount for exceeding her overdraft by only a few pence on some occasions.

I just wanted some advice on whether she could still put a claim in even though she is no longer with them. Am I right in thinking they would still have the records of activity for that account? The charges amount to around £200-£300. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
