As this is a seperate account, as long as it's in order, they shouldn't touch it.0 -
Hello Scrimpers!
I sent off multiple letters for charges/statements before this PITA test case and so have shelved all the bank charge ones for now. However my main claim was to Barclaycard for charges on my credit card. I dont know the account number as it is now closed (and wouldnt know how I can find it out) so I sent the letter off with as much detail in it as possible but stating I didnt have the account number and they never got back to me (2month ago sent letter). I sent it recorded and so probably have a reciept, either way I cant progress really without my account number. What do I do in this situation??
Help!
Thanks.0 -
hi Dean,
i was in the same position as you with barclaycard, I had no details of my past acccout. I wrote them a latter giving them my past addresses, d.o.b. and a cheque of £10. I made a phone call to chase it up a few days later to be told it was being actioned. I got my statements with 2 weeks, and an offer of £232(the diffence between £20 and £12 on each charge)within 2 weeks of claiming! Try again mate, they have been the easiest to deal with in my experience, although they have put the money into my old bcard account. grrrr
I got addresses and phone numbers somewhere if you need them.:beer:0 -
I have a major problem. I wish to recaim my bank charges (which total roughly 2000.00) and I am now under pressure from my bank to close my account as I have not been using it for a few months and I have a 1500.00 outstanding overdraft, all I have been stupidly doing is just adding a few quid just to make sure I didn't go overdrawn. They wish to close my account and set up a payment plan. If I try and start the ball rolling to reclaim, do they still have to deal with my claim (if they receive it before d-day) or because they want to close my account (which they want to do next Tuesday 9th Oct) does my reclaim become nul and void, because my account is closed? (I already have copies of my last 6 years statements, I had only got this far)? Where do I go? What can I do? Is it too late? Please can you help??Overdrafts 2750.00:mad:

Hi - my husband and I have recently claimed over 6k back from credit cards and bank accounts, both active and closed...some of which were closed up to 6 years ago and we received every last penny claimed (apart from Barclaycard who are being somewhat pesky!) so continue with the reclaim process would be my suggestion, even if the account does close. My understanding is that any re-payment plans or issues with stagnant accounts should be dealt with as a seperate issue... Is there anyone out there who could confirm...
We simply followed the advice and guidance/templates on this site - and everyone is so helpful. Good luck0 -
I have recently (well about 1.5 Months ago!) began claiming against First Direct for the last few years that I have been with them.
Both myself and my partner made claims with a response from FD of £1000 worrth of charges for me and £700 for her.
Both of us have since opened other accounts which we now use instead.
The question I have is: If we close the FD accounts does will this be detrimental to out claim?
a follow up question would be: Can you claim for bank accounts you have closed in the last 6 years?
Thanks!0 -
Hi,
It won't make any difference to your claim whether the account is closed or not, both the accounts i am claiming for are closed and i haven't had any problems obtaining the information i needed.0 -
hi, does anybody know if it is possible to still reclaim from credit cards if i no longer have the account numbers. when i paid them off i closed they closed the account as i had defaulted and i threw away all paperwork. It is within the six years though. Thanks in advance.0

Write to the company with a Data Protection Request with as much information as you have such as name, address, date of birth so they can trace your account.0 -
Hi all,
I am currently in the process of reclaiming my bank charges on my old current account. Two ago my current account was closed because I went over draft by 0.01p with abbey national and they charged me £35.00 for the privilege lol. I refused point blank to pay the charge, and thus extra charges of £35.00 were threw on top. Eventually this amount got to over £400 and resulted in my account getting closed and my credit score suffering.
Any way, I have two questions:
1. Will it be ok to still ask for my charges back, even though I am overdrawn, because all what I owe them lawfully is the 1p, and not £400 odd. But there is no way I will be able to afford to pay back the charges....
2. How do I work out interest on top of whatever they owe me?0
