This is aimed at management of supermarkets, shops, banks etc, in the high street and also in call centres.

Don't require counter/call centre staff to make false 'small talk' with customers. I am happy to say hello, goodbye, comment on the weather etc with staff but I object and get really annoyed with what has become an interrogation with the misguided premise of being 'friendly'. I do not want to have to explain what I am spending the money on, what I am doing later, or if I am having a nice day to a stranger.

Ban upsizing as well. So if I go to McDonalds and ask for just a burger, they are not allowed to ask 'what drink with you like with your meal' or 'is that a large meal'. If I want extra items I will ask for them and I don't want to have to keep saying 'no thank you, just the burger' when I am fending off their demands to sell me stuff I do not want
  • Stop companies such as DFS from having permanent 'sales'. They are NOT sales - that is the price. Also opticians saying 2 pairs for the price of one. They all do it and as it is continuous, it is actually the price of 2 pairs, and if you only want one you get charged the same price as for 2.Therefore they are forcing you to buy 2 pairs. There are numerous examples of fake 'offers' including supermarkets.

Why aren't housholds on one side of each road given a bag of salt & responsibility to clear their front??

As we all pay more than enough in council tax charges, at the first hint of snow/ice every house should be given a bag of salt/grit to use on their paths, driveway, pavements etc. The cost involved would be minimal compared to the inconvenience and hazzard of being iced or snowed in.

My hairdresser cleared her own front area but not the pavement, as if anyone had slipped on the pavement after she had cleared it, they would be able to claim from her, but if she did not clear it, the onus would be on the local authority. How mad is that?
  • The government should allow you to pay road tax for your car on a monthly basis (direct debit) as they do the TV licence and also scrap the additional charge if you pay by visa or other similar cards

Simplyfy the PAYE system. Salary, benefits and other income paid direct to an account held by the inland revenue. IR then deduct correct tax and NI once a month and transfer balance to the persons personal bank account. No need for P45 , coding letters, emergency tax etc

And if Incocme tax was based on a straight 10% across the board, everyone would know they had been paid and taxed correctly. No loopholes, no income tax /family/pensioner credits, just make it simple.
  • London does not need another airport. Give all other airports flights to destinations not already covered ie Newcastle residents have to travel to London to fly to North America and Canada, WHY?

We have an "International" airport in Wales (CWL - Cardiff) and we can fly to hardly anywhere! We have a choice of 4 Greek islands in the summer and a few of the Canaries in the winter, very little else unless we fly to Amsterdam and change there. It is sooooo useless it is a surprise it is still open and I feel it won't be for very much longer. International - huh what a joke We have to use London for anything more then 4 hours away.

Get pensioners to contribute say £1 to their bus fare
  • Create an "universal unit of Energy" for Gas and Electricity so that Consumers can tell, pick and choose the most suitable or cheapest tariff with confidence. Comparing tariffs should be as easy as telling
that 2 is bigger than 1.

    Thanks for your post

I have previously suggested that it should be law, that energy suppliers produce a table of the cheapest unit cost for a year v's competition

The results to be endorsed by mse and age concern, for all on fixed income
