Government Salary Committee
MP's, Cabinet, and MEP's salaries decided and set by the people who Elected them and Not by the current system which is by an internal government select committee.
This way, not only will each MP's salary be decided fairly by those that elected them together with their expenses, but also the ability to set therefore, the National Minimum wages which will then have a Direct effect on our whole economy. Fairer wages will then be determined by this External committee, a yearly referendum can then be used to determine a set or 'range' of salaries that MP's could be paid with the Final salary then decided and voted upon by the external 'people selected salary committee'. This committee can then also be used to set a 'range' for the national minimum wage and possibly also those in other government departments as well, i.e. those that are Far too highly paid in the MOD.
For historical reason's, MP's have always set their Own salaries and their Own pay rises, and considering they have recently decided to award themselves a 32%, Yes Thirty Two Percent pay rise This year, I think it is about time WE, as the people who Elect them to Serve US, should decide what they are paid and Not leave them to decide their OWN pay packets. It is, after all the 21st century NOT the 19th century now.
We decide on where to buy other goods and services depending on the value for money we are given so why can we Not do the same with the services that are provided by those that we elect to be our servants in government?!
How about giving them no more than minimum wage, after all, a lot of them are already wealthy people and don't really need their government income.0 -

Income support should not be paid in cash, which scroungers spend on HDTVs and drinking in pubs at 10am. Benefits should be paid in food stamps so they cannot be spent on anything else. This way the genuinely needy are kept safe and the scroungers will need to find work.
What about the bills that need paying, electric, gas, tv licence, water and sewerage, insurance etc?0 -
Stop wasting money fighting the EU justice department and just take back control. Huge amounts of money are spent trying to deport immigrant criminals. When they can't be deported by EU ruling, money is wasted giving them benefits! Why should the EU dictate who we have in our country and what they are and aren't entitled to?0

Abolish VAT as too many cheat and avoid paying in numerous ways. It is expensive to administer and enforce. Instead increase income tax to make up the loss, people would then be free to spend what they are paid how they choose without more taxation.0

i.e. Pensioners get 2% increase, MP's get 2% increase.
This will save the country a lot of money and will go some way to proving that "We are all in it together". Leading by example is honourable.
I would change that from percentage to amount!0 -
1) No saving institution may offer more than 10 savings accounts.
2) No savings account may pay less than half the rate of inflation (min. 3%) exclusive of any bonus.
3) All savings institutions must offer at least 1 instant-access savings account having no minimum and no maximum holding.0 -
I am unemployed at the moment and there are few vacancies where I live apart from carers, nurses and drivers.
What I have noticed is that there are quite a few "Bank" and "Zero" hours contracts on Jobseekers.
My neice is also employed in London on a Zero Hours contract following her position as temporary christmas assistant.
How can you claim jobseekers or any other benefits when you do not know what hours you are going to be working?
Seems to be a win,win solution for employers to cover for staff sickness, holidays and peak periods but little use to people looking for work. This should be stopped.0 -
"Performance" cars require excessive energy and materials to manufacture and they waste fuel. Such cars should carry a road tax surcharge and manufacturers should be levied tax for producing these vehicles, which tend to be driven by the egotistic and anti-social. Nobody needs more than 90 BHP. Sorry Jeremy.0
