Make it illegal for company's to chase the wrong person for a debt - just because they have the same name doesn't mean they are the same person, especially when the debtor was last known to live 300 miles away!Sealed Pot Challenge Member Number #19060

As a result of the privatisation folly of the 80s, we are now paying a massive price for our energy and water. The "utilities" MUST be brought back to public ownership so that they can be properly managed for the benefit of the consumers, not the share-holders.0
-
if we were to nationalise the money supply and take away the ability of private banks to create money as debt we could see real positive change. It seems the only way we will see 'Growth' is if we all take on more debt!
Update the 1844 bank charter act0 -
So many "pay day lenders" charge astronomical interest rates which are misunderstood by desperate people. There should be a legal, maximum interest rate on loans as there is in some European countries.0

Councils should be given powers to compulsorily purchase empty property which has lain unimproved for more than a certain period, e.g. 1 year. It is immoral to buy up property as an investment to sell on at some future point but leave it empty and unimproved in the meantime. Let it or sell it!0

There, it's all in the title. I don't need to use any of my 50 words. But I suppose I could add that it's pointless and will never deter or be able to deal with the kinds of threat we face today. Just two simple words, worth £40 billion each.0

Reintroduce MIRAS. It is unfair to have to pay tax on interest income, but not be allowed to tax-deduct interest paid. And, taper Stamp Duty, paying the band rate(s) only on that portion of the price which is within each band. Both these should stimulate housebuilding & save consumers money.0

Do something about residential parking i.e this ridiculous bonnet to bumper both sides of the streets creating just one very dangerous lane - right in the middle of the road . Streets are meant to have 2 way flowing traffic not 1 so residents who want more than one car should be MADE to have somewhere to put them that doesnt create traffic flow probs0

Make ISAs more attractive.
If the idea is to persuade people to save, why not allow cash withdrawn from ISAs to be returned to the account, still taxexempt, as long as the maximum allowance is not exceeded? This simple sweetener would make saving far more appealing at no cost to the government.0 -
Our goverment should stop all charity donations that go abroad (this is taxpayers money, and we are never consulted) THIS country needs some TLC. Instead our government should be applying pressure to the 'rulers' of needy countries to address their own peoples problems themselves instead of 'stealing' the charity sent.0
