  • The government should NOT open the flood gates to migrants, instead it should stop all imigration to the U.K with immediate effect. We have too many immigrants already, some have come legally and do good work and are honest people but some come to the U.K. for the wrong reasons and have criminal records that are extremly worrying. there are also many hundreds of thousands of illegal imigrants 'lost' by inefficient government handling......ENOUGH!!
  • If you are going to carry out the bedroom tax, how about paying for those people who are affected to move to smaller accommodation, if they are already on benefits, they cannot afford removal vans etc. Every move costs and it takes time to recover financially which benefits do not allow for.

Why not record teachers lessons on video and put on school websites so pupils sick or not doing well can go over the lesson at home and keep up with their studies like open university does?
Our school does that, it is called Edlounge and if they are off sick, they can do lessons on the internet which are marked and are counted as educated at home days rather than sick days.

I think the Government should pay off all mortgages up £150k as this will impact mostly on middle income and 'hedgers' who will then have more money each month to buy goods and stimulate the economy which will in effect help to create more jobs.It will also probably get the money back to Government by way of VAT on goods purchased and income tax, not to mention the reduction in unemployment benefits.:j
Do me a favour, how about those of us who have worked hard to pay our Mortgages off early! I struggled to do this but now own my home outright, would you suggest I got £150k to help stimulate the economy - probably not. Take my advice, got a mortgage, work hard to pay your mortgage off early, then you can stimulate the economy yourself. Remember a mortgage is also a debt - best rule is have no debt, pay it off no matter how small it is, then your money really is yours.

The short-term 'pay-day' lending industry has exploded in recent years and is just a modern version of back-street money lenders.

This industry desperately needs regulation to ensure that unscrupulous lenders do not take advantage of vulnerable people. These companies should not be allowed to operate like this in the UK.
How about encouraging the banks to take on this business instead, even they are better than pay day lenders - just! With the power to take payments before tax from PAYE and benefits via the inland revenue.

Charge manufacturers a levy equal to the waste disposal cost of their products. A customer who recycles would receive a cash-back. This would make manufacturers choose more eco-friendly products and packaging and encourage more customers to recycle. It might even encourage youngsters to collect items for recycling to get extra pocket money.
You mean like when we used to collect the fizzy pop bottles and get money back on them in the 70's ?
  • Those banks and building societies that offer mortgages should not be allowed to charge massive interest rates when the bank of England current rate is the lowest it has ever been.
Some mortgages are 6 or even 7% which is outrageous. This is one of the main reasons why people cannot afford to live.

Too many people claim for whiplash etc after a minor bump which means massive insurance premiums for everyone else, which then results in further unnecessary claims to compensate for higher premums. Stop the vicious circle. Same with other types of personal injury claims.

Or how about you have to have your own personal injury insurance, so others cannot benefit from it only yourself. If they are not going to make money out of it they are less likely to bother trying to cause accidents to inflate their claims.

The benefits system is one of the things that sets us apart as a civilised country and a secure place to live. However I don't agree with people getting something for nothing! Everyone who claims job seekers allowance, by definition, is capable of doing some type of work. In return for benefits they should have to complete a certain number of hours of some community service. It would help provide the "big society", increase aid to the voluntary sector, increase morale of those unable to find a job, ensure the work ethic is not crushed, increase confidence, enable people to get reference, and avoid being labelled a "scrounger".

I would be up for that! Am currently unemployed and spend approx 3 to 5 hours a day searching and applying for jobs or attending courses, jobcentre interviews etc. That is 7 days a week by the way, you have to search 7 days a week or they can dock your benefits. but would be up for some kind of community work. I would far rather be working full time though.

it is common logic that countries with any extreme weather give longer holidays duration during that specific extreme weather e.g pakistan india, hot summer so longer summer holidays for school. in Uk christnmas holidays should be swapped with longer summer holidays. It will save a huge saving of heating bill ,a lesser number of school off days for students due to cold, fever, sickness etc. There is a possibility that in summer more and more people will walk to school in summer thus reducing the carbon foot print of uk.During snow time all the expenses spent on keeping teh school open e.g.gritting---fuel ,salt, time and the manpower spend will be saved. All theses saving to the council, govt etc should ultimately be passed on to public in the form of frozen or reduced council tax bill/taxes.
