Do more to stop benefit fraud. People claim benefits for years without problems and we're talking millions and millions of pounds. As usual genuine new claimants suffer for the life long scroungers.

Stop mobility cars. Ive got a bad back and knees and I have to pay for my own car to get to work. How did all this start anyway. Why should anyone get a free new car every 3 years, free insurance, tax etc. Look at the majority of mobility cars and the drivers/ passengers can walk just fine once they get in the supermarket.

Stop all immigration even from the EU unless they have a job, a house and can speak English. All immigrants should have to take out private health care and no benefit claiming for at least 3 years of working in this country.

Agree with the immigration point as we are fast coming to breaking point in terms of available resources for the amount of people living here. Re mobility cars, there seems to be a misconception about these, they aren't free. If you get the higher rate mobility component of DLA you can choose to have a car instead but not both.
  • The option to be paid weekly rather than monthly should be available to all employees. It is far easier to manage for a few days until pay day rather than have to wait a couple of weeks for monthly pay. This would mean less people would have to use pay day loan services paying extortionate interest rates.

Too many people claim for whiplash etc after a minor bump which means massive insurance premiums for everyone else, which then results in further unnecessary claims to compensate for higher premums. Stop the vicious circle. Same with other types of personal injury claims.

Can the the UK government co-ordinate with other countries a system of international credit-checking and credit reports? It's apparently a well-known ruse to come to the UK on a visa from countries like India, work here for a while, then just before leaving take out phone contracts to get expensive handsets, loans, credit cards etc with no-intention of paying them back as they are leaving the UK to go abroad. If UK companies could link their "defaults" here to the country they go to then the people concerned would think twice about doing this, as it would affect them in the future.

2 different people who've previously lived in the house that I currently live in have done this. The second person who did this told me that lots of people do this. I'm still dealing with the debt collection letters for the second person now....
People that are not British nationals should have to put their verifiable passport and visa details on credit card and phone credit agreements when applying this would stop most of this overnight.

  • The benefits system is one of the things that sets us apart as a civilised country and a secure place to live. However I don't agree with people getting something for nothing! Everyone who claims job seekers allowance, by definition, is capable of doing some type of work. In return for benefits they should have to complete a certain number of hours of some community service. It would help provide the "big society", increase aid to the voluntary sector, increase morale of those unable to find a job, ensure the work ethic is not crushed, increase confidence, enable people to get reference, and avoid being labelled a "scrounger".
  • Retirement
Full time workers approaching retirement could reduce hours(easing transition), giving people, especiallly the young, an opportunity to work part time or take up apprenticeships. This would reduce unemployment, and, more importantly, these experienced people could pass on their knowledge, skills and expertise ,saving millions on benefits and training.
  • Most citizens obey the law so - pass a law making it illegal to pay cash for home services. Allow a max of £20- £40 to exclude regular low value services ie window cleaners,milk-men etc.
  • Before you qualify for U.K. benefits you should either have lived in the U.K. for at least 16 yrs or paid 10 years tax and national insurance.
No benefits or tax allowances given for non U.K. nationals living outside the U.K.

Tax PLASTIC bags. The goverment is always looking to bridge the borrowing defecit. Around 10-13 billion are used in the UK each year. A tax of 5p or 10p each bag would bring in revenue and encourage public to re-use bags or get bag for life.

This would start a fantastic blackmarket in plastic bags..
( pssst... want to buy a plastic bag 2p cash) at rear of supermarkets!:)

  • Privatised utilities didn't work, public utilities are not working for their customers, only their shareholders. So legislate to make all utility companies be Community Interest Companies as defined in the Companies Act 2004. Wikipedia describes them, just search for Community Interest Companies.
