  • Move from VED on Vehicles to a Pay as you Drive scheme through higher fuel duty instead.

I don't know the logistics as to Why we still pay Vehicle Excise Duty or a Tax Disc, however, surely in the 21st century it would be better to pay for the amount of Mileage we drive and not just a blanket charge across the board? If there is a reason why we Cannot do this, I am open to feedback.

  • It should be illegal for Continuous Payment Authorities to be set up without the customers express authority. I've just paid my car insurance by debit card & the company (Esure) says I have consented to such an authority being set up, which I have most definitely not.
  • One of the easier ways to save money is switching your utility supplier to a cheaper one ... but unless the bills all supply the same information in the same way, you can not compare!
I would be useful to make them all use the same format!

If signs are displayed warning motorists that there are speed cameras on the road then the sign should also display what the speed limit is. What's the point of saying "mind you don't get caught speeding" and not telling people how fast they can go?
  • Currently getting divorced and needed to deal with a Pension Transfer.. The majority of the "Financial Advisors" I contacted would not do the transfer on it's own without me being roped into their yearly fees and providing services and advice on personal financial which I didn't need and didn't want. Must affect thousands.

Payday loan companies charge extortionate interest and charges to those least able to afford it.
I would like to see a statutory limit on interest and charges of 50% of the capital. i.e. if someone borrows £100, they can only be asked to payback a total of £150 with no further penalties.

Junk mail should be 100% recyclable

All advertising mail should comply with the recipient's recycling rules without any action taken by the recipient beyond putting it straight into the appropriate bin. E.g. no paper mail in plastic bags and no windowed envelopes unless the recipient's local council lets you mix paper and plastic.
  • Junior cash Isa's should be made available to all children, restrictions on children who have an existing CTF should be removed, we never asked for these in the first place. Or let people transfer the CFT's into ISA's as these products are useless/worthless.
  • Slash Beer Tax on draught Real Ales & ciders supplied to local pubs. Would provide a lifeline in saving small pubs from bankruptcy, instead of providing community focus, counteracting supermarket & conglomerate's financial advantages. Would ultimately SAVE money by stimulating local economy, provide jobs and actually make you popular! SIMPLES!
  • The way to solve the housing crisis is to ban short term tenancies. Make all tenancies permanent from day 1. Tenants can only be removed if they break agreement. Would get rid of crazy buy to let idea and give security to people.
