50 word Moneyfesto - Small changes for a big difference 2013

Low income working people should be able to pay into an account like a "Pension Trust Fund",paying in what they can & when, but cant access it until a pre-agreed date.0
-
Government should question the cost-benefit of means-testing, and avoid it - do not fiddle about. Anyone with money gets stung by the government sooner or later for death duties, stamp duty, cost of care. It all balances in the end without the chaotic cost of means-testing.0

Make companies close the shop doors that they leave wide open in the coldest weather with heaters burning above. Who pays for this huge waste of energy? We do, in shop prices. It is financially and morally wrong and I refuse to buy in them but do close the door!0

Put an end to the incessant misery that we have to endure dealing with the "mis-sold PPI touts", endless texts and automated phone calls.
Make the banks automatically pay it back, they have budgetted for it, they should pay it back. It would instantly shut down all the PPI touts.
People are still scared to claim it back as they think it will affect their current banking/credit score, and it may LOOK easy with all the templates etc but for some people it just ISNT. (which is why some were mis-sold in the first place)0 -
Employees should be paid fairly for the work they do,starting from the time they enter the building. Many employers are exepcting you to "set up" for the day for them to run THEIR business for free. Imagine how much extra wages people would receive (helping the economy) & ultimately all that extra tax could be paid back into the country.0

Here's an idea.
Local people volunteer to do certain jobs where necessary eg help shovel snow from residential roads not gritted by local council, visit old people's homes to interact with older people etc for a 10% reduction on council tax bill. Finer details to be worked out of course.0 -
Companies shouldn't be allowed to keep your account details, then take more of your money in the future unless (a) they made this intent obvious up front (not small print), and (b) they get a response from you to say it’s ok (notifying you by letter/e-mail is not sufficient).0

As long as we drug test anyone claiming tax relief or submitting their own tax returns too.0 -
The value of 1p and 2p coins is next to nothing nowadays. The only purpose they serve is to stop retailers from breaching the next pound barrier. It may also reduce the risk of goldfish injuries.
Sorry but this is likely to INCREASE prices:(. We 'lost' the half penny which was worth more than the Stirling penny at decimalisation, suppliers took the opportunity to 'round up' prices and that was the start of the reduction in value of the pound Stirling. Why do you think our money buys so much less than it did before decimalisation - because the low denominations were eliminated!0 -
Really stop telephone marketing calls. The telephone preference service is fine in theory but is toothless and a waste of time in practice. The biggest problem is small local companies and scammers from abroad. Fine some local firms and publicise the fines. Use technology to block access from abroad for offenders.0
