  • I agree and have been pushing this point for years with politicians. If stamp duty was "smoothed" then it woud be easier to buy and sell properties in the £250K - £350K range.

I would like to see direction sign posts in foreign languages(especially around tourist destination). Tourism is a non-polluting industry that provides great income, yet we hardly welcome foreigners by shouting English at them!
  • Amend UK Health & Safety legislation that is beyond the requirements of European H&S law. Then, pass primary legislation to produce a more sensible legal framework that enables people to go about their business without the unnecessary fear of prosecution for activities that present no realistic risk of H&S exposure.
  • Government's planned change to WCA (work capability assessment) makes an artificial distinction between being mentally or physically ill. Many conditions are multi faceted eg poor concentration due to fatigue/medication/pain/sleep deprivation is scored either on pain or concentration eg Cancer patient's depression worse than pain. Not holistic assessment.
  • When renting cars, the hire companies always impose full to empty tank policy. Two stealth charges here. They always charge for a full tank, not what they have had to put in after the previous rental. They always add a premium to the cost of each litre. The customer should have a choice.

Prevent supermarkets being able to claim a price cut, when that is solely due to them having previously put the price up.
  • Government to set up an Infrastructure Bond through National Savings paying decent tax free rate and use the money for building airports, railways and roads. The people benefit both through income and work. The banks may scream but who cares any more about them.
  • How much does it cost the Government to administer and pay out the £10 Christmas bonus? This is now an irrelevant amount for most pensioners and should have been scrapped when the Winter Fuel Payment was introduced.
  • To help motorists save money and the environment, mpg figures in car adverts need to be more transparent so that buyers can choose efficient cars. Currently, the legally required figures are at best unfathomable and at worst misleading. E.g. What does ‘Combined 39.2 – 70.6’ for the Peugeot 308 actually mean?
  • When the £9k a year students graduate, and get £21k+ jobs, their taxes will be so high that they will not be able to afford to spend on houses, cars, products etc.

Something must be done to stop our kids graduating with minimum £37.5k debts (£9k tuition plus £3.5k accommodation loans per year).
This level of debt, and the 9% extra tax to repay it, can only be another recessionary factor.
