  • Why is Welsh language compulsory in Wales? Make it optional and only allow students who are achieving in English to take it. Then teach something useful like Financial Education instead please.

Simplyfy the PAYE system. Salary, benefits and other income paid direct to an account held by the inland revenue. IR then deduct correct tax and NI once a month and transfer balance to the persons personal bank account. No need for P45 , coding letters, emergency tax etc

They're making big changes in the HMRC at the moment, similar to this. It's call RTI (real time information). It will make the amount of tax we pay more accurate on a month to month basis.
  • Boost and reduce the cost of town centre shopping by making parking meters free/half price for first hour and/or make them free between 12.00 and 14.00 (as is done in many German towns) and make first two parking bays in pertinent residential streets free/metered for one/two hours

Pawnbrokers and cash-for-loans shops should be financial service providers for planning permission(A2) rather than a shop(A1). This would make it much harder for them to open.
  • Use some school time before a pupil leaves after A'or O'level exams to prepare students with life-skills, - money management, first aid, safety and security, basic cooking- give them a course certificate as an incentive. Don't load this on teachers, ask the Banks, Red Cross and skilled housewives to pass on their knowledge.
  • Give residential customers access to the ECOES database (only Business & Industry presently have access). With a fee would at least be a start.

Every time I swop energy providers, it goes t**s-up due to ECOES errors.

Or access via a middleman, like an Energy Paypal or an 'Ecoes Reference Agency' ??

Supermarkets have products on "half price" one week and "bogof" another week. Same unit price but, somehow, both appear to be a special offer.
They should be forced to show average best-value unit price over the past year.
  • I think consumer and financial advice should start being taught inschools so that when young adults leave school they are aware of their consumer rights, this then stops them becoming vulnerable to scams, PPI cold calling, doorstep selling rules etc., In turn it would stop young adults going into these fields as careers and they could help other vulnerable adults ie the elderly.
  • If a beneficiary of a trust fund whose inheritance is 'lost' due to a trustee solicitor's incompetence and /or the bank's unhelpfulness they should be allowed to speak direct to the bank- Finance Ombudsman says solicitor is the 'customer' and even if bank pays 'compensation', can legally keep it!
