My mother switched to M&S Energy in early October (about 5 weeks after applying). The switch went smoothly however she did not receive the £20 voucher promised on the website and also in an email shortly after she applied. The first excuse given over the phone was that there had been a delay in getting the vouchers from M&S, then there was a backlog in sending them out. She has now received a letter saying it was all an error and she wasn't entitled to the £20 voucher on the fixed rate tariff! They have tried to fob her off with £5 for the inconvenience. Clearly some people have received the voucher - so this is just wrong. I expected better customer service from M&S (SSE). Sadly I didn't screen capture the website offer at the time. Any suggestions how to tackle this please?

I've just got a paltry £5 voucher when I was expecting £20 as well - not impressed. No real explanation given.

I also got a letter and £5 goodwill gesture explaining it was sent as "we had sent you a postcard incorrectly telling you you would get £20 voucher" I actually thought I was getting £40 after 3 months.
Very dissatisfied with this. If you make a mistake shouldn't you honour it. Will I get my £40 after 3 months? I won't hold my breath.

Same as some of the other posters. Just received a £5 voucher instead of the £20 promised.

Not impressed is indeed the phrase!

I'll give them a ring tomorrow and see what they say.

  • Same story for me with the vouchers. Switched via martin's cheap energy club back in august, switch itself went pretty smoothly and today received a letter notifying that the £20 voucher offer was an error, here is £5 instead! Would be interested to know how the above posters got on challenging m&s on the matter. The voucher was advertised as part of the quote in the cheap energy club, so if it is the case that the offer is voided by clicking through via a third party such as Martin or otherwise surely this is pretty false advertising.
  • Got my 30 pounds cash back from the cheap energy club today. I never expected any vouchers but it appears that M & S did mess up by telling some people they would get the vouchers, when their own small print indicated otherwise.

You would think they would pay up if they made a mistake, reputation and all that.

Very happy with my electricity switch so far. Got £10 voucher straight away and £52.50 via Topcashback after about 10 weeks.
  • Still fighting with e-on to get my £78.06 credit balance back.

have had my £30 cashback paid into my account, though, so Yippee

I signed up to M&S fixed deal via quidco in August, the deal was £100 cashback and £20 vouchers.

The change over went without a hitch and got the £20 vouchers soon after. However the deal did not track with quidco and I had to raise a query with them,I was told it could take another 3months before M&S replied, this was mid Sept.

On 20. Nov as no progress had been made I posted on M&S Facebook complaining about the delay. Almost immediately I got a response with a request for a e- mail giving my details. I was then contacted by SSE customer services who promised to investigate.

Yesterday got a telephone call from SSE saying matter had been resolved and quidco would be paying cashback. To-day e-mail from quidco payment now confirmed and£100 would go into my account on their next pay day.

Now I don't know if the cashback would have been sorted by quidco eventually but if anyone else is having similar problems then they might like to try the Facebook approach.

Just got off the phone with M&S energy. I said I was unhappy that they were unwilling to honour the £20 of vouchers (sending me only £5).

I was told the vouchers were no longer available, but they were willing to credit my account by £15.

    Job done :)

EDIT: Also received the £30 cash back into my account a few weeks ago.
