Do you pay by Direct Debit, if so as along as you haven't cancelled this we would normally refund to the bank account.
You don't need to keep a DD live in order for a credit to be paid into your account.
No reason why you shouldn't be refunded the day you get your final bill - otherwise send the bailiffs round to EON.0 -
I am getting a bit confused by this M & S deal. I am getting virtually every letter twice.. once fvrom M & S and once from SSE. Both have their websites and both have their log-ins.
M & S might as well not be involved at all as SSE seem to be stomping their big boots all over the deal.A smile costs nothing, but gives a lot.It enriches those who receive it without making poorer those who give it.A smile takes only a moment, but the memory of it can last forever.0 -
Having a nightmare with M&S Energy. I applied on 29 September for the fix and save Sept 2013 deal, used the topcashback site, which linked to their site, and applied. Got email saying welcome, and terms and conditions and they said it would take 5 weeks, but 6 weeks later and no transfer, I called em up and they say they havent been send information from Top Cash back. But the application was done on their site, not Top Cash Back. Absolute shambles. Anyone else in the same boat. I suspect they have lost my data, and trying to blame Top Cash Back.0

My mother switched to M&S Energy in early October (about 5 weeks after applying). The switch went smoothly however she did not receive the £20 voucher promised on the website and also in an email shortly after she applied. The first excuse given over the phone was that there had been a delay in getting the vouchers from M&S, then there was a backlog in sending them out. She has now received a letter saying it was all an error and she wasn't entitled to the £20 voucher on the fixed rate tariff! They have tried to fob her off with £5 for the inconvenience. Clearly some people have received the voucher - so this is just wrong. I expected better customer service from M&S (SSE). Sadly I didn't screen capture the website offer at the time. Any suggestions how to tackle this please?0

Have a look at the T&Cs it mentions joining awards at point 2.

Re: my earlier post, as I suspected TopCashBack didnt have any of my purchase details or a batch number, which M&S energy said they needed. M&S Energy have clearly lost my application and trying to fob me off. Disgusting. Now going to miss out on this deal.0

Many thanks Ziggy, I'll point that out when I write to them.0

I think it's only an M&S branded tariff, they're not actually going into the energy business! I agree though, it is confusing when both seem to communicate with you, and you can use both websites.
It seems strange if you compare it to the John Lewis credit card for instance. That's provided by one of the banks, but you only ever communicate with John Lewis, and use their website. I imagine the M&S one will be similar.
I've now had my final bill from Scottish Power, and I'm just waiting for the refund of my credit balance of over £300. I realise this would have been my buffer over the winter, and I fully expect my DD with M&S to go up substantially as soon as I'm in debit. I'm pleased to be getting it back though, handy for Christmas.
The switch took a long time, and meter readings were extremely slow to register on the M&S/SSE website. I left my readings on the answerphone first, and phoned up to speak to a person about 3 days later. In fact the gas reading had registered on the answerphone, and appeared 5 days after I had left it. On the same day I got a recorded phone message asking for the electricity reading, which I ignored as I had already given it over the phone to a person. It took 5 days again after the phone conversation for the electricity reading to register and the meter reading input box to appear.
Very inefficient system all round, I hope future experience is better.0 -
I registered to switch at the end of September. I got a welcome letter through the post and then a few weeks later a letter from SSE confirming the gas account. I was a bit puzzled that the electricity didn't come through at the same time but couldn't get through on the phone - no answer - so decided to wait a bit longer.
I finally emailed them to ask them about the delay and was told my electric had been cancelled because I didn't reply to an email requesting information. I never got the email. They never even let me know that they'd cancelled it. Of course they are now offering to put me on another tariff.
I think M&S Energy has very poor customer service.0
