I applied to switch from Atlantic (SSE) on 10 Sept but didn't get any feedback until a letter on 3 Oct confirming new Direct Debit amounts and dates, T&Cs and tariff prices.

Then nothing more so I phoned them in the week to be told there was a backlog processing the requests, but not to expect any more info as it was regarded as just a tariff switch within the SSE system and all my existing account details would be the same (!?).

Anyhow, I received my final bill and account closure from Atlantic on 8 Nov, and today another letter from "Southern Electric/M&S Energy", with details of new account numbers, new Direct Debit dates and amounts.

However, the DD amounts were higher than those agreed on the 3 Oct letter (and higher than the Atlantic payments), and the dates were also different. I phoned them to query it and they said they would correct it to the original agreed amounts at switch over. So will now wait for confirmation of those corrections.

My only concern now is whether we will receive the vouchers that were a main selling point of the deal, as the Fix & Save T&Cs suggest otherwise:

M&S ENERGY – FIX & SAVE TERMS AND CONDITIONS
    1. These terms and conditions are in addition to the M&S Energy Terms and Conditions and SSE Energy Supply Terms and Conditions with the exception that Terms 2, 3, 5 and 6 of the M&S Energy Terms and Conditions shall not apply which means you will not be eligible for Energy Reduction, Paperless Billing or Loyalty Awards and there will not be a hydro electricity matching guarantee.

In addition for those customers who have joined M&SEnergy Fix & Save through an internet comparison site,Term 4 of the M&S Energy Terms and Conditions shall also not be applicable which means you will not be eligible for Joining Awards. In the event of a conflict between these terms and conditions and the M&S Energy Terms and Conditions or SSE Supply Terms and Conditionsf or Domestic Customers, these terms and conditions shall
prevail. Any terms defined in the M&S Energy Terms and Conditions and the SSE Supply Terms and Conditions will have the same meaning in these terms and conditions.

Anyone had any vouchers yet, or is it a bit early ?
  • I'm not expecting any vouchers as I switched through moneysupermarket. I am expecting 30 pounds cashback from them in due course.
  • Not overly impressed so far......

Have had two dates for the switch (by post) and requests for meter readings, which I supplied. Rang up and asked which date was actually the right one. Was asked for my latest meter reading and was give yet another date for the switch. Have had nothing to indicate that something has actually happened.

BUT - appear to be getting "free" electricity at the moment. Last month old supplier didn't take the DD, neither did M & S...:rotfl::rotfl:
  • I'm still waiting for M&S to pass e-on my meter readings so e-on can close my account. I've no idea whom I'm paying at the moment. Hopefully it's M&S, but my M&S account isn't showing up anything yet, so it looks unopen... Waiting for both companies to get back to me from queries I raised a week ago...

Yes I had that last month (although I'd set aside the money just in case); then this month the new supplier took the agreed direct debits and the old one refunded me the credit on my account.

Well I think my switch is complete.
Have had a closing bill from Eon although they are currently holding on to the massive credit accrued, haven't a clue when I'll see that.
Have had one bill for gas from sse but nothing for electric even though both readings supplied. No information available as to when first dd will be taken, the website is appalling.
Not sure if I'll get any vouchers as I went through uswitch, probably not.
All in all a very poor switch with minimal info, not sure thst anyone gives a .....

    Morning jonnyfgood,

It should say on the final bill how the credit will be refunded. This is normally towards the bottom on the first page.

Do you pay by Direct Debit, if so as along as you haven't cancelled this we would normally refund to the bank account.

Let me know if you need me to check for you :)

Yes, I had £20 worth of vouchers included with my 'Welcome to M&S Energy' letter which arrived a few days before my switch date.

    Hi Helena

I have left the dd live in anticipation of getting the refund back into my bank account but nothing yet.

The bill just says a refund will be sent if account in credit but no specific time scale.

Can you make sure you have some good deals going around next September as this was a reluctant switch after a number of years of decent service and an excellent website!!!!
