  • I'm probably being far too cynical but I believe there is possibly another far more sinister explanation worth considering.
    Also, Brexit? :santa2:

Please, oh please don't introduce Brexit into this thread, leave it to the discussion forum where it has been discussed ad nauseam.

Aww, ok. [strike]It would be wrong to even suggest that continental-owned energy companies might unfavourably revise their pricing structures post-brexit referendum[/strike]. Oops.:)

The Co-op one doesn't come up on any price comparisons . Maybe they don't supply my area? Can anyone give me the name of the tariff?

My comparison today shows these tariffs

Dual Fuel - Co-op Fix For Longer February 2018 - Fixed till 28 Feb 2018

    Electric Only - Co-op Fix & Fly October 2018 V2 - Fixed till 31 Oct 2018

Not the cheapest options for me and they definitely don't have the best of customer service records with 56% rating them poor and only 21% rating them great.

Still baffled by what's happened to Eon's fixed prices. I'm on v19 for gas and electricity and just looked at the "our best deal for you" tool. What a joke!

    Estimates:
    Current v19 - £90 per month
    v21 - £117 per month
Energy Plan (ie variable) - £120 per month

A 30% increase to go from our old fixed tariff to the current version. And v21 is only 2.5% cheaper than being on their standard variable pricing!

Switching to someone else is a PITA for us. Some idiot previous owner put an E7 meter at our house, even though it's a large detached house with gas central heating. 80% of our usage is daytime, so we're on a standard tariff for electricity, not an E7 one. Eon are one of few suppliers who let you do this. Most others only let you have E7 tariffs if you're on an E7 meter, so switching means getting the new supplier to change our meter. I can't imagine Eon would do it for us to help us switch. *sigh*

My v19 runs out at the end of January, so tempted to give it a bit longer and see if they come to their senses with a better v22??

Prior to this I would have said Eon were excellent. We moved here two years ago and the previous owners were with Eon for electricity (presumably because of the E7 meter) and British Gas for gas. We switched the gas to Eon and that was really easy and quick. And with v19, they were very competitively priced for us.
  • Sorry Eon, but you've also lost us to Co-Op. might have moved to V21, but you took the Rewards off, which was the last straw.

Think you've shot yourselves in the foot with this tariff.

And I've been a loyal (probably stupid) customer since 2001.
It was the top result on compare the market £849/year saving me £161 over v21. Fixed until March 18. Bye bye eon

Hello elisebutt65 and sorry to lose you.

Rewards have been taken off our Fixed 1 Year version 21 tariff as part of the product review I've mentioned recently. We're looking to learn what customers think of this as we aim to redesign a new product portfolio for 2017.

It's our aim to freshen up not just our tariffs but how and when we let our customers know about them. I don't have any specifics yet. Best to keep an eye on our website as this is usually the first place they appear.

Totally understand, not much use to you now but hope it's of interest.

Im also off was on v19 but to put up almost £200 is unbelievable .I wouldn't mind a couple of quid increase but thats a no go. So i am off to pastures new .

Hello Nellybee and sorry to lose you too.

Our Fixed 1 Year version 19 Tariff was a heavily discounted product and was only available for a limited time. It guaranteed the unit rates and standing charges would be kept lower than our standard products for a full 12 months. Like many special offers, this had a limited shelf life and has now been replaced with products more in line with current market conditions.

As above, we're currently going through a full product review as we look to freshen up not just our tariffs but how and when we let our customers know about them. As part of this review, we've guaranteed not to increase our standard rates until at least April next year. There'll be other developments next year and our website is the best place to see them.

Not much use to you at the moment, I know, but hope it's of interest.

  • I've had a horrible time with EON. I was erroneously transferred from EON to British Gas. As per Ofgem rules, once I had raised the issue this transfer should be reversed (I believe in 20 days). However, despite emails to EON and their promise to resolve nothing happened for months and months and my customer complaint case handler suddenly had left the business. My new case handler has told me there is nothing EON can do and I need to contact British Gas to pay. I am more keen to resolve than keep exchanging emails but British Gas have no agreed rate with me so I could effectively pay an non-competitive rate. To impact this I asked for EON's final meter readings and they were incorrect. To compound this further, when I politely asked for the meter numbers they used I had no response. Pretty exasperating. I will end up paying. I'd steer clear of EON .
