Just me 2 cats and a dog in a little wooden bungalow! Use bottle gas if cooking, or microwave, don't cook every day. No hot water or heating except for Calor gas heater and a small fan heater with a thermostat to use when very cold.

Review statement says I'll use £762.64 worth of electric in the coming year, 12 X £64 I phoned and queried that. Man was adamant it was worked out correctly and wouldn't change. Was paying £45 per month and getting large CR balance while doing so. Is E-on trying to kill off us old uns? Only 72, feeling cold, temp. below 50 in doors. Will sort a change after I've spoken to Age UK in the morning. Most 3 bed houses come to half what I'm asked for!

    Your to expensive E-on!

    Hello forestlands.

As in my earlier post (#668), our Monthly Direct Debits look to spread payments evenly over 12 months. They're based on current prices and past usage. A change to either will trigger a payment review.

I'd follow the excellent advice from Hengus. Thanks Hengus. Let us have meter readings so the account can be billed up to date. If you've registered with our website, you can do this online using the 'Real Time Billing' tool.

Have you given us meter readings regularly in the past? If you have, have a look at previous usage. Are you using more in kWh than before? Details will be on your bills and the online account. We'll be happy to help you save money by saving energy and there are lots of tips on our website to help with this.

Also as Hengus mentions, are you on a fixed tariff that maybe has just ended or is about to end? What tariff are you on now? If there has been or is about to be a tariff change this, too, will trigger a payment review.

It sounds like, from what our advisor has told you, the arrangement's on course to reach as near as possible to zero balance by the annual review. Hope the above gives a bit of insight into what might have caused the increase.

Given the circumstances you describe, have you thought about seeing if you're eligible for help under the Energy Company Obligation (ECO)? This is a Government funded scheme to help those who qualify with energy saving stuff like cavity wall and loft insulation. There's more about this on our website.

    "Price Alert
We've got a new Fixed Price Tariff

    Hello Mr Awesome

You signed up to our Price Alert service so we wanted to let you know about our new tariff E.ON Energy Fixed 1 Year v21.

The unit rates on E.ON Energy Fixed 1 Year v21 are the same as those on your current tariff, however this new tariff does not include E.ON Rewards or Price Alerts.
I'm on the doomed v19 at the mo and they wrote to me about v 21. In my case the unit rates are substantially higher. I would cost me around £200 per year more.
  • I take it EON aren't planning to release any time-limited offers like the v19 one? My v19 ends 8th Feb and looking around there's nothing that really comes close. Plus I was quite liking the clubcard points... not enough to make me stay on standard or some other high tariff though
    Internet earnings:
    Swagbucks - £748
    InstaGC -£73
    Nielsen Mobile - £70
    Mobile Trends - £19.50
    iPoll - £15

Same here. Actually yesterday I did find a couple of possibilities - a bit more expensive than current but nothing like £200 pa more expensive.:( I'm hanging on a bit to see if EON comes up with something better. ;)

No news on any other tariffs other than those on our website cambermam. Although, Helena and I are told round about the time new products are released.

Just a quick heads up about Reward Points. These aren't available on our Fixed 1 Year version 21 tariff. Similarly with Price Alerts. Reward Points remain available on our standard Energy Plan though. I know this is probably of no relevance to you but thought I'd mention it as general information.

  • Hello Hoggy1983x and sorry you've had such a horrible time with us. Guessing but it sounds like BG doesn't accept they've taken the supply by mistake. Thought it might help if I let you know what should happen where a supply has been taken this way.

With Erroneous Transfers, in the first instance, it's important to contact the company who has taken the supply. This is because, invariably, when the losing supplier contacts them they claim they've a valid contract. Once established that a transfer has been wrongly done, all suppliers have a duty to put it right as quickly as possible.

Once the mistake has been accepted, the supplier who has taken over wrongly will send a request to the other company asking them to retake the supply. Once this has been received, the supply will be taken back and set up as though it had never left. The supply period and billing will be continuous and carry on as though it had never been away. This should be done within 6-8 weeks of the mistake being acknowledged by the supplier taking over.

Customers shouldn't have to pay the company who took the supply wrongly. A couple of bills might be received whilst it's all sorted but, in the end, only the original company needs to be paid for energy used. The company who took the supply wrongly will cancel all bills and charges.

As above and we're asking you to contact BG, I suspect they've rejected an Erroneous Transfer. The complaint handler leaving won't make a difference as their manager will appoint another advisor to take over. It looks like this has been done and this is the person to talk to. Let them know the serial number actually on the meter. This could help.

Have we said there's nothing more to be done? If we have and you're not happy, the complaint handler will let you have a 'Final Resolution Offer' letter that can be used to go to the Energy Ombudsman. Although, it sounds like the complaint's been open for more than 56 days. If it has, you can go to the Ombudsman straightaway. No need to wait for a letter.

I'm guessing a lot here Hoggy1983x and sorry if I'm wide of the mark.

Sorry but I have emails from EON stating that they were sorting this transfer. So your comments here are not educated throughout the company and to me in turn.

For me Ofgem clearly also have to do some work here as there needs to be greater checks completed by suppliers before transferring, particularly when the wrong details have been used! There also certainly needs to be reference case raised to Ofgem if a supplier rejects a transfer such as mine. To be honest I doubt this ever happened. I appreciate the latter points are industry rather than EON criticisms.

I can only base my opinion on the people from the company I have spoken to and EON haven't been good. However, I spoke to someone from British Gas and they were really helpful. I'm going to continue with them. Probably just luck of the draw on both sides.

I do appreciate your response all the same.
    All the best.
  • Never mind Malc.

E.on still has one happy customer, (actually, i suspect two very happy customers, when Sosumi returns from a winter in the sun?) :rotfl:

A very happy xmas and a prosperous new year to both you and Helena and thanks for your support on these forums. :xmastree: :xmassign: :xmassmile
Fred - Where's your get up and go?

Barney - It just got up and went.

To be fair, v19 does seem to have been an exceptionally good deal, I'm on it too and am anxiously watching the market for a replacement. v20 was more expensive and v21 is even worse.

If the last couple of years are any indication, there will be a flurry of new tariffs available for a short term around new year some bad, some good, some with leaving fees, some without, before settling on another 'nothing special' tariff like v20 (and v16 in 2015) until next Christmas.
2015 had me on v15, then I was on v17, 18, & finally 19 over a short period of time (v18 lasted 2-3 days IIRC). I hope we'll see something similar before the current deal ends, but right now Scottish Power's 2018v2 flat rate* is looking like my best deal with 'only' a 20% increase on the annual cost rather than the 40% with E.on.

Also, bear in mind that I don't think Uswitch includes the £100 annual discount for DD+dual+paperless on E.on tariffs which can skew the results quite a bit depending on your usage.

*Why is it with all this regulation, when you tell energy companies you have a meter capable of dual rate they can show you only Economy 7 tariffs? Even if your day/night usage means they will be more expensive than flat rate? I had to lie about my address to EDF just to find out what the flat rate is (cheaper than E7 but still too expensive)

Well, it seems my optimism was misplaced, with only 14 days until my v19 comes to an end and no sign of any new tariffs, The Scottish power tariff I'd been eyeing is gone, so I'll be having one last look around the market and most likely starting a switch to Iresa before the end of the day.

I've been with E.ON for almost 9 years over two properties, and have been happy with the service. The app and online accounts were easy to use too. I know v19 was heavily discounted, and I don't expect E.ON to cut their own throat just to keep me, but a 40% price increase over last year (and removal of rewards) is just too much.

They don't have to be the cheapest, just don't make me feel like a mug for staying!

Its a shame as well that the new smart meters that E.ON just paid to fit will revert to dumb meters, but providing my own readings was never a chore, and the main reason I wanted them was to get rid of the old bulky E7 meter and radio teleswitch. Meaning I can now fit another shelf in the meter cupboard and can get single rate electric from any supplier (which with only 12% usage in the night is essential).

Come on E.ON, I want to stay, give me a reason!
