...but the explanation is simple -EON were much too successful in sweeping up the ~30% of the market who DO actively seek better deals -the Board don't want us anymore because we aren't profitable (or much less profitable than the sheep who never switch) and their bonuses are being depressed:rotfl:
I'm probably being far too cynical but I believe there is possibly another far more sinister explanation worth considering.
I think the 'brains' (if only they had some) at EON have decided to deliberately try to offload customers to the smaller new entrant suppliers in the hope that they are overwhelmed and go bankrupt the same way as GB Energy did in an attempt to reduce the overall number of suppliers.
At no point have EON attempted to justify their price rises and we now have a situation where one of the big six energy suppliers have completely priced themselves so far out of the market it would be easy to believe they're no longer interested in supplying energy in this country.
Maybe it's time Ofgem got involved and took a close look at the actual reasoning and justification behind this pricing strategy and threatened to withdraw EON's Operators Licenses until they come to their senses?
Malc the best way forward is to play the game like gentlemen and as always in business some profit however small is better than no profit at all!
Once your loyal customers have chosen to leave you it's very unlikely you will ever be able to win back their trust and get them back regardless of price.0 -
I have been an EON customer for approximately 10 years and Ive just got the email too saying "Switch and get a better deal" Im on Fixed 1year V19 and pay £89.25 a month and generally when I do meter readings I am in credit and only had to pay about £40 at the end of the year to clear what was left. They are now offering me deals V21 No Tesco rewards at £122.41 a month or Energy plan which is not fixed at £126.35!!
I am disgusted as I too have been a loyal customer but I get this kick in the teeth when I really dont need it. Ive just lost a part time job and my income has decreased, where am I going to find an extra £389.40 to £436.68 extra when I have lost income.....
Hello fittaedae and sorry to hear the news about your job.
At the moment, the Fixed 1 Year version 21 is the only fixed price tariff available through our website. Prices are about the same as version 20 but, as you say, without the rewards and price alerts. There aren't any exit fees either so customers can change supplier without penalty.
Probably too late for you but, as above, we're currently looking at our products and I expect to see developments in the coming months.

Quite simply, my V19 expires on 20/1, if no new competitive deals come out in the 'January Sales period' then time to move on, rather than pay a lot more per month for my gas and electricity than I need to.
Hello the.weekender and glad we've looked after you in the past.
Sorry the current tariffs we've available aren't of interest. The product review I've spoken about quite a bit recently is underway but, I suspect, too late for your immediate needs. The results of this will become more apparent in the coming months. Usually, our website is the first place new tariffs can be seen.

Malc I realise that you are restricted in what you can and cannot say on the MSE forums, but FWIW I think that you have done a great job on here helping out Eon customers over the past year or so.
Regarding V19, I feel it is like losing a loved one and having a broken heart, but ultimately it is better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all.0 -
E-On switch section on their web page is unavailable due to technical work.
The last time they did this they introduced new tariffs. So watch this space, something for existing customers this time hopefully.0 -
forestlands wrote: »What strange comments, guess they are from someone at E on! Check your finances etc.! Just phoned Age UK re EoN putting up my monthly electric payments to £64. Felt that was excessive monthly payments up £5 a week. Spoke to EoN yesterday, pointed out how often I was in credit paying £45 and they had to pay me back! You used13-14 units a day in X month.
Been to compare site and quoted a lot less. Think EoN are aiming at always being in pocket, even during very cold periods! Naughty!
Use gas canisters for cooking and heating. Don't have hot water, Have no TV only a lap top, use low wattage bulbs! EoN are having a laugh, my son pays less for a 3 bed semi and gets refunds. Just saying so check if in doubt about your payments!
Hello forestlands. Sounds like you've a Monthly Direct Debit and we've just reviewed your payments. Thought it might help to give you a bit of information about how we look after these arrangements.
We look to spread payments as evenly as possible over a full 12 months. Amounts are based on current prices and past usage. A change to either will trigger a request to alter the payments at the next review. The aim is for accounts to have as near as possible to a zero balance by the annual review. At this point, any credit over a fiver is automatically refunded. Any debit balance is included in the ongoing arrangement and spread up to the next review.
I'd expect accounts to be in credit at this time of year ready for higher winter bills. Refunding any of this credit part way through the 12 months might mean there's not enough in the pot to cover usage up to the annual review. This can also lead to a request to change payments.

Do you know you can take more control over the monthly payments, including changing the amount, through the Direct Debit Manager on our website? Provided you've registered with our website, you can use this tool to change payments to better suit different circumstances.
If the account is billed up to the latest meter readings, payments can be changed by up to 20 per cent up or down. By up to 5 per cent up or down without readings. Before confirming the new amount, we'll let you know by how much we expect the account to be in credit/debit if the payments are changed but usage doesn't alter as expected.
Understand your son pays less but this can be misleading as properties differ so much. Levels of insulation, appliances, heating arrangements, lifestyles etc differ and make comparisons difficult.
Sorry if I've misinterpreted your post forestlands but hope this is of interest.

Take your point youravinalarrrf and have sent your comments (along with others) up the food chain. Can't promise this will make a difference but it's good those making the decisions are aware of Forum sentiment.

As others I am on the V19 tariff and will be entering the 49 day window tomorrow and there's not much chance of me staying with Eon, coop or flow continue to pop up as the best tariffs just undecided which one is best (much of a muchness).0

Morning the.weekender and thanks for that. We do try to help/advise even when the news isn't particularly good.
Glad version 19 was such a hit and will be so sorely missed.
Have a good weekend.

Sorry FOREVER21 but yesterday's website outage was as it said on the tin and down to technical work. It's back up and running now.
