Was going to York to buy train tickets for DD and a friend but decided to do this tomorrow so I do not risk being late for the dentist this afernoon.
Could this not be cheaper on-line i.e. https://www.thetrainline.com
I think my DS uses this to keep price down.

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Hi All,:hello:
Im at home today instead of w***, (due to a national strike) so I decided to tackle my mountain of ebay things which were threatening to engulf the bedroom. Ive taken loads of photos but am now prevaricating prior to listing it all because it looks so nice and sunny outside and its rather chilly here by the computer. The only trouble with ebay listing is that I rarely get time on a weekly basis to list anything I come across, so it builds up, then its even more time consuming, and I need a day like today in order to get on with it.
I have nothing else planned for today as I would have been at work, I spent yesterday doing a deep clean of the house, and escaped cooking last night as OH was off out for a meal with colleagues (which I had forgotten about) so made sausage and egg sandwiches for DD's and myself and am planning to cooks last nights tea tonight which will be bacon shepherds pie, (which I know Mr Pea will complain about - he does not class a full packet of bacon as meat)
This evening I have plans to escape upstairs with the DVD of "The Devil wears Prada" which popped through the letterbox this morning, my mending basket and a glass of something alcoholic as Im sure there will be football on down here.

The condenser bit at the back of the freezer which circulates the coolant into the fridge is frozen solid so the coolant can't circulate. I'm under strict instructions not to try and defrost it as the engineer said it's so iced up that the volume of water would probably flood my flat  plus he took note of the fact that the freezer is currently full to bursting and said he didn't want to waste all my frozen food :A
The "enhanced" version of the model, which they are sending me as a replacement, has an additional heater thingy to prevent the circulation freezing up.
So I am hoping it may turn up by next Wednesday as I will be away Thursday and Friday...
And meanwhile he's suggested that I keep the fridge functional by freezing ice packs in the freezer and then transferring them to the fridge. Well guess what I have already been doingOperation Get in Shape

Hi All,:hello:
Im at home today instead of w***, (due to a national strike) :
oooh me too - this was supposed to be my first day back after a week's leave and i had to check bbc news this am to make sure it was still on. I went to the picket line early this am but there wasn't one so I went back home - luckily I only live a 15 minute cycle ride from work
I've planted half a dozen sweetcorn babies, done two loads of washing which are now flapping about in the wind, cleared the fridge and made a huge pot of fridge debris soup - much better than sitting in a stuffy bail court (which I will be doing tomorrow)
Lovely wedding photo Catznine - My mum used to have a dress with sleeves like that that I longed to inherit - of course by the time I did noone wore long dresses to parties anymore.
must get on as I need to clear the decks before the Big Match - we will have fridge debris soup with cheese and bread on laps as dd is a huge liverpool fan.
listening to a radio programme about waste I am tempted to unpackage most of my shopping at the till and let the shop deal with it - has anyone else ever done that?

have a good afternoon all
I've watched the person in front of me at the check out do that on more than one occasion, normally the poor person manning the till has to bear the brunt of their rantings and mutterings too, I'm all for people having principles, just no need to inflict them on everyone. Give it a try and see how it works.
Had a slow morning, got a bit of a dodgy tummy so taking things easy. I've washed the floors and done the ironing which I managed to [STRIKE] ignore[/STRIKE] forget yesterday.
Lovely pic Catz......waiting to see all these new hair doo pics - come on girls we're all waiting for inspiration."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Hi everyone.
Welcome Flourgirl!
What a lovely day! The sun is shining and my washing is already dry and I now have a HUGE pile of ironing to ignore! :rotfl:
I have a yummy chicken curry bubbling away in the sc but I had a real job getting it all ready before walking the girls to school. How do you find the time to chop everything and get it all ready for the sc in the morning? I just have enough time to get everyone dressed, breakfast done, washing on the line, dishes done, teeth done etc and I wasn't even in w*** today!
After taking the kids to school I went to help out at our church's drop-in morning, making tea and toasting everything.
I've just scoffed my 'healthy' lunch and I'm going to do some of my school planning. I'm not in w*** tomorrow so I'll give the house a good clean then.
Have a good day!0 -
Afternoon all!
One of my clients cancelled this morning so I've got an extra hours break :T Have therefore made yet another loaf - making your own bread is supposed to save money but it tastes so much nicer, we eat twice as much!
CATZNINE - glad you liked the chill, good idea putting mince in, I never thought to do that:doh: now my OH can eat it too! And how on earth do you make yarn out of plastic bags?
DANNAHAZ - that salad dressing does sound yummy, I'll have to do some experimenting and come up with a homemade version when my raspberries fruit.
ESSEX-GIRL - :grouphug: to puppy, he won't miss them sfter a while, my dogs don't and somehow still seem to get a bit randy now and then!
FLOURGIRL - welcome!:hello: I've not been here long myself and they're a great bunch as you know!
MOILIERE - thank-you for you compliments on the magazine, we put a new issue up each month so enjoy!
Well I'm going to use my unexpected hour off completely unproductivley and treat myself to one of those rest things Moiliere mentioned earlier, they sound great.I've got a quieter day tomorrow so can get some more jobs done then.
Bye for now!
P.s - just noticed your photo Catznine - love it!October grocery challenge(started 17/10/07):
