    Tell me what this means:-

Dont see why you been jumping on the OP like a mug all thread though?

    It's pretty obvious isn't it?

I think he's saying you're being unnecessarily harsh to the OP.

...would you sign for a big TV box and accept it when you were not expecting it?
    Why would anyone....unless?

I've been asked to sign for a delivery that's not for me, it's not that difficult to refuse to do so really.

Possibly. There are 3 adults at this address and I've often had things arrive that oh or ds have purchased and not mentioned to me.

Erm yes, I think most people would sign for a parcel for them. It was my name on the form, and they clearly knew my address. The parcel (what ever it was, as unknowing at the time) was clearly posted too me. I am not in the wrong for accepting my own mail, they are in the wrong for posting it too me.

You ask most people "would you accept a TV addressed too you, delivered too your house, even after you told the courier that it had already been dealt with?" the overwhelming answer would yes.

TV collected today. Also JL said that they had no record that I had the set, and because I did the right thing and let them know, I can have 15% off my next shop with them as a good will gesture :T

Excellent stuff. And just goes to show that honesty is the best policy. :T

Well the new one (yesterday's one) has LED light bleed, so I might try the newest one (today's one) to check that, and keep the one with the least amount of light bleed, and send the worse one back.

I will wait for them to call me, as I am not paying a bill too call them on a premium rate number. I am not loosing out on money (through phone bill) because they have made an error, not happening. They can contact me.
John Lewis Customer Service number is 08456 049 049 and is charged a tlocal rates or free on certain phone plans so I think there is really no reason to have that call with them.

Technically honesty isn't the best policy as if he had said nothing he would have kept an extra tv (which is probably worth more than 15% off their next purchase).

Still honesty is the correct moral approach!

No, you;re wrong. The OP only found out they knew nothing about it when they got in touch. JL could have, within a set period of time, come looking for the money or the telly as it was delivered incorrectly and then where would the OP have been if couldnt afford a second one?

So, honesty was indeed the best policy.
