Two reasons why I will not buy an Apple product:
The first is nicely articulated by UsernameAlreadyExistsUsernameAlreadyExists wrote: »I don't like that all applications need to be regulated, controlled and conform to the Apple "way"/"brand".
And the second was nicely summed up by a report on BBC Radio this evening:
"Apple sold about 10% of all the phones sold on the planet in the last quarter but they got about 30% of all the revenue from selling phones..".
Now (as the Apple Execs might say as they rub their hands) you do the math!Never let it get you down... unless it really is as bad as it seems.0 -
On the debt issue, I am a debt advisor, and phones lead very little to debts, because if a contract is defaulted on, although the remainder of the contract payments have to be paid as one debt, the person keeps the handset and sticks a PAYG sim in it, meaning for those that go insolvent the debt is written off, they have a nice new phone which isnt an asset as second hand they are worth less than £300...
The costing thing is strange. For my iphone 4 i paid £129 plus £40 a month contract. yes i could have had something else for free or £50, however it was my sat nav, iPod etc etc, so i sold those items and got £100 for them, and £130 for recycling my 3GS. quids in.
When i got the iPhone 5, i went for the same contract which now gives me more minutes, texts and data, it's £41 a month (so £24 more expensive over the contract) but the handset was £30. If my iphone had been mint i could have got £150 from recycling, but i cracked the screen so sold it second hand to a friend for £50.
And Apple have changed iOS5 so you dont have to have itunes on a PC, the whole thing can be done on the phone only. And the point of smartphones is the apps, so it makes sense to have an account with the relative provider to download the apps?
I also have to say, this thread didnt start well, but i have enjoyed reading through what has been an informative and generally insult free debate... anyone unsure on what to buy (iOS or Android or BB) who has read this will have a lot to think about!0 -
I'm not gonna respond to particular posts, but I choose to spend my money on Apple as I have earnt it and its mine to do what the f... I want with it.
This.
I have an iMac and an Samsung S3. I don't have a tablet but if I did get one I'd opt for an Android version. I've had an iPhone through work in the past and its a great product. You do pay a premium for products but they make great products. I personally wouldn't go back to PCs though. I think Apple have lost their edge but I guess others have caught up though as said here.0 -

Im intrigued by what people have written about the media servers that will accept numerous file types and work like Apple TV does. I am an iPhone user, but I have a friend with some HTC phone (not sure which) that I think is very smart. I had a Desire S for work and hated it... could i go back to PC from Mac? im not sure, my parents have just bought a windows 8 laptop, and i find it very confusing and not very intuitive (e.g. how do you search in that app store thing? other than browsing what is there, i want to type a search thing in...!!) but i may not find it intuitive due to a) using a mac for 5 years and b) it's very different to previous windows experiences....0 -

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
It's like the Bing Bang Theory Xmas Party in this thread. Jeez.0

The point was, it is now seen as a must have device, often people are hooked from a very early age (paid for initially by parents), the tendency as soon as they hit 18 is to sign up to the latest phone/upgrade contract and continually have to have the latest phone to keep up with the jones's, whether they can afford it or not, sometimes with concurrent contracts and multiple phones. £40/month for the rest of your life is not a trivial amount of money to most people, nor are defaults.!!

It's great to see the non Apple users getting totally irate from even the mention of the word 'Apple'.
Makes me laugh
I'm sure Microsoft's figures are as similar to be fair and iPhones are !!!! in my opinion but as my business couldn't be run as effectively and as conveniently without a pair of iMac's then I say 'Go Apple!'0
