Apple fiscal Q1 figures are out, and they are quite impressive considering the world is in recession.
Apple have announced $54.5 billion revenue, with $13.1 billion profit for the quarter.
They have sold 75 million iOS devices, including 47.8 million iPhones and 22 million iPads.
Apple's cash reserves increased to $131 billion.
47 million iPhones? Hardly the flop many seemed to think when the i5 came out (of course the figure is all iPhones, but still impressive, I would speculate the majority are i5).

There are a lot of sheep out there. Good luck to them, but it can't last forever
I hate Apple and all they stand for, whilst only last year bought an iPhone my partner. Ironic or what? They're good, they're simple, they work ... but they're over-priced. Marketing and "must have"ness is everything. They've nailed it good and proper.0 -

They will keep on making vast amounts of money because they know for a fact that the apple fanboys will buy anything with the apple logo on.
May take a few years, but the bubble will burst for them at some point.Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0 -
................meanwhile, the rest of us have real lives. The day I find myself so obsessed with this weeks technological sales figures, will be the day I realise I need a softer, more padded bedroom, complete with wrap around straps on my jimjams .
Oh, the irony.
It's made the news and is techy, hence the post, but you then "have a real life" but take the time to compose a suitable retort as to why it shouldn't be reported on :rotfl:
You don't think a company making a $13 billion profit in 1 quarter of the year (in the midst of a global recession) is newsworthy or worth reporting?====0 -

It's funny that people are called sheep for buying the iPhone - that they have more money than sense - that they are way overpriced etc.
The fact is mobile phones were pretty poor in 2007, internet browsing especially was rubbish. I was no apple fan but the day I used the original iphone was a bit of a revelation and I bought one the same day (in fact within an hour). Like they said themselves, their phone was 5 years in advance of anyone else.
I owned a 2G, 3G, 4 and moved the company I worked for to iPhones (I wrote an app specifically for us). They were great compared to everyone else.
The problem is, they haven't improved enough since the original iPhone and everyone else has caught up. I sold my iPhone 4 and replaced it with a £60 Huawei and I now don't have to be so worried about damaging it, I have also sold my iPad and replaced it with a Vivobook. Apple have had their day, and I don't begrudge a penny of the over inflated price I paid as they genuinely revolutionised the mobile market. They have seriously lost their way and need to come up with something groundbreaking again or they will slowly go down the pan like before (and I don't think Microsoft will help rescue them this time).0 -

absolutely.....
and, if you add up all the PC/laptop manufacturers, throw in microsoft, and add in all the "other" smartphone manufacturers, oh and not forgetting Google for Android, how much more revenue have they generated in comparison ???
Exclusivity may be apple's thing, but consumer choice? Priceless............Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
Wasn't there an article in the news in the last few days saying they had to reduce the size of their component orders because of reduced demand for their products....?
Ah, yes ...

I'm not gonna respond to particular posts, but I choose to spend my money on Apple as I have earnt it and its mine to do what the f... I want with it.
However I don't just buy Apple to blow my money, I have valid reasons. Firstly the way it is all networked in my house, it works seamlessly, culminating with AirPlay through Apple TV means that everything can be done on be best screen and sound system in the house from my recliner...
In my recently changed car I had an alpine unit with an iPod lead, and a control system for the iPod design. I know I could get a USB cable for an alternative smart phone, but the alternative wont airplay to Apple TV, or wirelessly sync with iTunes when I get home.
The longest life I've had out of a pc before random error messages appear on start up, after its taken minutes to load, is 1 year. My 4 yr old aluminium MacBook works beautifully still, admittingly it had a ram upgrade over Christmas...
I know that there are cheaper, and in some cases arguably better products from rivals, but I have chosen to buy all apple for ease of networking and overall use. I'm not an apple fanboy that won't give other platforms the respect they deserve, so it annoys me when lovers of the competition choose to simply slate apple rather than talk about what makes the competition such strong competition.
So this is for the haters really, you're boring me. Why not change your arguments to something of worth? I'm not a sheep, I choose to buy this stuff on my own needs, and the bubble won't burst with me...0
