Windows 8 will provide a big boost to Apple Mac sales.

Why would anyone care about the figures these companys produce for the stock market?
saying the apple haters won't be happy with a big profit seems a bit silly, as I'm sure the haters will point to a massive drop in their share price and the reduced orders they have made for hardware, so second quarter sales figures are likely to not be near as good - at the end of the day these figures only make a difference to people investing on the stock market rather than the people interested in the tech they are selling
silly thread obviously started as a bit of trolling

This thread = classic case of apple fanbioism!

Lets just cherry pick the seemingly good bits and ignore the actual bad bits, usual religious nonsense.

It's funny that people are called sheep for buying the iPhone - that they have more money than sense - that they are way overpriced etc.

The fact is mobile phones were pretty poor in 2007, internet browsing especially was rubbish. I was no apple fan but the day I used the original iphone was a bit of a revelation and I bought one the same day (in fact within an hour). Like they said themselves, their phone was 5 years in advance of anyone else.

I owned a 2G, 3G, 4 and moved the company I worked for to iPhones (I wrote an app specifically for us). They were great compared to everyone else.

The problem is, they haven't improved enough since the original iPhone and everyone else has caught up. I sold my iPhone 4 and replaced it with a £60 Huawei and I now don't have to be so worried about damaging it, I have also sold my iPad and replaced it with a Vivobook. Apple have had their day, and I don't begrudge a penny of the over inflated price I paid as they genuinely revolutionised the mobile market. They have seriously lost their way and need to come up with something groundbreaking again or they will slowly go down the pan like before (and I don't think Microsoft will help rescue them this time).

Agreed. You can buy a very usable 7 inch android tablet for as little as £29. Apples price = £269. Granted its better, but its not 8x better...

There are a lot of sheep out there. Good luck to them, but it can't last forever :)

I hate Apple and all they stand for, whilst only last year bought an iPhone my partner. Ironic or what? They're good, they're simple, they work ... but they're over-priced. Marketing and "must have"ness is everything. They've nailed it good and proper.

    Hmm...

An interesting post. You call Apple users sheep but there are far more Android phones out there, mine included, so I'd say the term sheep applies more to the rest of us. About 70% of mobiles are Android while about 15% are Apple

You then go on to say that iPhones are simple and just work but they're overpriced.

Most of my friends are non techies and believe me they are more than happy to pay for simple and just works. I used to have an iPhone, I swapped for a Samsung Galaxy S2 because I wanted to try Android for a change. I really like my Samsung but I have no problem with Apple.

I don't understand why people waste so much energy hating Apple or Microsoft or any other company. What makes you hate them so much?

People choose the best product they can get for the money they have available or because it fills some other personal criteria which may be as simple as 'because my mate has one'. It doesn't make it a wrong choice.

Now wba31 is a classic example of an Apple fanboy, in one sentence says "I know that there are cheaper, and in some cases arguably better products from rivals." Yet buys apple at 3 or 4 times more expensive, due to ease of use ;) .

As for the term haters, people don't hate them, just not dumb enough to pay over the odd for a product, when they know they can better items that will do the job for a lower price, called common sense.

Apple fiscal Q1 figures are out, and they are quite impressive considering the world is in recession.

Apple have announced $54.5 billion revenue, with $13.1 billion profit for the quarter.

They have sold 75 million iOS devices, including 47.8 million iPhones and 22 million iPads.

Apple's cash reserves increased to $131 billion.

47 million iPhones? Hardly the flop many seemed to think when the i5 came out (of course the figure is all iPhones, but still impressive, I would speculate the majority are i5).

Why would Apple haters not be happy?

Those figures just confirm that there are an awful lot of fools willing to part with their money for overpriced gadgets just because they look pretty.

Nothing to be unhappy about there.

Well, i tried to send a contact card from my Samsung G S3 to my mother-in-law's new Iphone 4S last night.. I was rather shocked that the iPhone wouldn't support accepting it.. anyway

It's horses for courses. I prefer my Samsung G S3 for my phone; but my Apple ipad2 is very suitable as a 'family tablet' - it's easier for the kids to use and 'just works'. The security aspect to it is far better (i.e. i can lock down the use of apps using 'Restrictions' in the settings, i can disable in-app purchases).
  • misiek404, couldn't have said it better myself. I struggle to understand why those that dislike Apple products need to declare it with every breath.
