misiek404, couldn't have said it better myself. I struggle to understand why those that dislike Apple products need to declare it with every breath.

Clearly you and 404 are missing the point, it's the price's that are disliked, not the products. Apple make some decent products, but the prices do not reflect the same.

And their prices are high because they take a massive profit margin from the sale of them.. far higher than other companies

Why would Apple haters not be happy?

Those figures just confirm that there are an awful lot of fools willing to part with their money for overpriced gadgets just because they look pretty.

Nothing to be unhappy about there.

They're not pretty. Its just the apple icon.

You could paint that icon on a concrete slab and a sweaty turtle neck wearing ifool would tell you that that the islab is better than the identical cheaper unbranded concrete slab next to it.

You could brand anything this way and ifools will queue up for days to not only buy it but to rant about how much better it is than the unbranded version.

Now wba31 is a classic example of an Apple fanboy, in one sentence says "I know that there are cheaper, and in some cases arguably better products from rivals." Yet buys apple at 3 or 4 times more expensive, due to ease of use ;) .

As for the term haters, people don't hate them, just not dumb enough to pay over the odd for a product, when they know they can better items that will do the job for a lower price, called common sense.

see my point about my home network and air playing. I know of no other system that does all of that so seamlessly...

    ok, here's one..

I have a Samsung TV. It's a smart TV and is on my network. From my phone, if I am watching a video, listening to music or viewing photos, I just press the 'share' icon on my Samsung phone and it starts streaming onto my TV set. This is using an existing standard (I tried it on my in-laws Panasonic smart TV and it worked first time). It's so exceptionally seamless it's like voodoo magic; because it's using an established standard

My old HTC did this too

No additional hardware needed. Granted, for full screen mirroring, you need to buy an additional £50 box (much like an Apple TV) or for a few quid you pick up a HDMI cable.

My Android phones have generally never frozen up like iPhones can do (when you need to do soft-resets or button cominations to make them come back to life). Android has caught up with iOS now, and surpassed it in various areas

Ever try Denon, Sonos, Cambridge or one of the other makes, that will stream flawlessly, also capable of streaming different music to each room, support better formats like flac. Not tied to iTunes, stream from pretty much any source you can think of.

The same can be said of your Samsung TV but it's clearly a price you are happy to pay while having a go at other people for doing the same with Apple.

    It makes no sense.

great excellent, so can "airplay" from a phone, i presume from a tablet too, can you insist on what you are playing be played on your pc too? like you have an audiobook on in the car, you arrive home and want to carry on listening in your office room, does it do the same to pc?
Does your phone also sync over the network?
does the £50 mirroring thing work with your PC screen as well as the phone and tablet?

If so then great, the competition is good for fans of all companies, but I had no idea of this stuff, Apple makes no secret of it. I bought my first mac 5 years ago, it still works today (apart from the disc drive). the 4 yr old is what i am typing on now. it just works out the box, but in most cases works for a long time. Ive never had an issue with an iphone personally, but i do upgrade every two years. I guess if I lost everything somehow, and had to start again, I would look at the alternatives, but now I have Apple stuff, why would i go and spend more money in replacing it with other things?

I would appeal against being an "apple fanboy" as I've been accused of as i am not against the competition, I'm all for it and it's success as it means every company has to get better and better which is better for us as consumers.

but all my stuff is on iTunes so i dont need any other format. All my photos sit in Aperture, and videos i have made and edited in iMovie, so i dont need other formats.
Just a question however, do the others link to itunes so you can rent films through them etc?
