Thanks centipede, I really appreciate all the advice that you've been giving on this thread (and others) and i'm sure everyone else does too.
Would you say NWNF is the best bet then, as presumably they will do all of the work and just reclaim their costs from Easyjet? Or are there downsides to that approach that i'm not seeing here?

I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone at MSE and on this forum. This is actually my first thread post on the site but the advice in this forum and in the main article regarding flight delays has proven to be absolutely invaluable.
Our EasyJet flight from Corfu to London Gatwick on 17th July 2013 (Flight EZY8758) was delayed by 3 hours and 5 minutes. We were given no vouchers for any refreshment at Corfu airport and so between three of us spent just over £45 on food. We were told the delay was due to a fault with a different aircraft earlier in the day which had caused knock-on delays. When we returned from holiday all I really wanted to do was reclaim the £45 and it wasn't until checking MSE that I realised that we could be entitled to compensation.
I used the template later and submitted it through the online form on the "contact us" section of EasyJet's website. We heard back just over a week later and were awarded a total of €1,200 (€400 each)!! I was absolutely ecstatic!! We were asked to fill out a PDF consent form which I scanned it at work and sent back electronically and 15-20 working days later (it does take a while) the money was in our account!! One small piece of advice, make sure you use the same card details on the consent form as those used in the original booking to avoid delay in processing the claim. You can use alternative details but you'll have to wait for EasyJet to call you.
Once again thanks to everyone who has posted on here and to the team at MSE for their guidance. We couldn't be happier and we really wouldn't have known about it without you guys.0 -
Hi,
We were delayed for just over 4 hours when due to be flying Barcelona - Liverpool on 25/07/13 (flight number EZY7204). We were told that the delay was due to the plane having to divert to Milan on the inbound flight from Liverpool that morning due to a "technical fault" and hence did not arrive in Barcelona until hours later after it had been fixed by engineers in Milan.
What would your advice be on claiming please and if we proceed with the claim would it be worth mentioning the fact that they did not have any alternative planes on hand, meaning that due to the inbound flight's diversion, we were delayed so long?
Thanks a lot in advance for the help.
Hi everyone, after having posted this I sent the template email to easyjet and have had the reply saying that as it was a technical fault there is nothing they can do. Can anyone please inform me whether my next step is to take it to the CAA or because the flight was from Barcelona would I have to take it up with the Spanish equivalent (even though easyjet is a UK based airline)? Thanks in advance!0 -
Re YellowVurt post on 5/9
My flight was an Easyjet flight in July - delayed 3hrs 15 min.
Same situation as you regards initial response and then nothing...
Offered compensation immediately after my initial email, I was asked for the 4 digits of card (although I explicitly gave them this in initial email after reading this was required) then nada...
Sent a weekly email for the last 4 weeks asking for an update.
Really odd behaviour - is there financial year end soon ????

As the flight departed Spain, it would be their NEB, AESA. I involved them and they took 2 months to provide a report (in my favour) but the airline have had no regard to it and I am now awaiting a court hearing date. Some on here say the NEB's are a waste of time, but I feel if they find in your favour and you end up going to court, it can only help your case. I also started a MCOL before I heard back from AESA, as I thought they may not reply, and I don't see any harm in you starting proceedings with MCOL now rather than wait for their eventual report.0 -
Hi, my son was delayed by 4 hours on a flight from Geneva to Gatwick. I amended and sent the template letter on MSE and my son has now been notified that his compensation will be paid into his account.
Thank you MSE0 -
I sent a claim to easyjet about a month ago but to this date have had no response.
Can anyone advise how long this takes and what I should do next?0 -
Dear Centipede
Recently I booked my holiday for a week to Cyprus. I am U.K citizen and have refugee status, so I hold a blue travel document. Most countries of Europe I can travel without visa but if I am not sure its says on my document that prior to travel ask the relevant embassy whether I need visa for that country or not. So I did, before booking my flight I called Cyprus embassy and asked them if i need visa with travel document or not, they clearly said I don't need Visa.
So I booked my flight for 31st of August to 6th of September and was excited for my holiday, As my partner is from Cyprus he was already there waiting for me to join him and to stay with his family. But on 31st of August when I went to gatwick airport for my flight easy jet crew did not let me fly and they said I need visa, i tried to tell them that I dont need visa and that I already asked Cyprus embassy and they said I don't need Visa. the lday on the reception said that their system says taht i need visa because im originally from pakistan, I rold my partner while I was at airport, he also was trying to talk to easyjet customer service people about this issue and try to explain to them that I dont need visa but same answer he was getting that I need visa. on the other hand at airport i was trying to talk to them but no body was there, everybody left at entry clearance and i had no idea what to do, no body was advising I was left on my own, sad, and i felt like I been treated like !!!!, I felt so bad, I just could not understand whats happening why its happening. it was like a shock. it was saturday on 31st of august 2013 so embasy was closed. then I came back home. so on next monday I went to cypriot embassy with my travel documents and asked them again and showed them my travel documents and they said I dont need visa. I asked them if they can write some thing and like stamp it for me that i dont need visa so airport people will know that they are on the wrong but embassy people said they cant write as this standard procedure if one dont need visa they dont write that person don't need visa an they said its very common document and that everybody know who works in this field. they also advised me to tell airport people to go on their website and they can read the information that i dont need visa for cyprus. I also had with my printed paper regarding my travel document inforation which clearly stated that I dont need visa, my travel document is based 28 july 1951 Geneva convention.
so straight away i went to gatwick and said the easyjet people but they said the same things, infact the supervisor or manger she was very rude, and showed no sympathy at all and wont even try to undertsnad and listen , and kept saying that I need visa and that their system says i need, well i told her that you need to upgrade or fix your system its not right but she wont listen, i also told her go to cyprus embassy website and also try to showed her the documents i had printed but she wont listen to me. then I called cyprus embassy again and told them whole situation, they were surprised that how illiterate easy jet people was, he said let me talk to easy jet manger but manger refused to talk. I was so frustrated that why they don't let me go, felt humiliated and felt like crying, it was so bad, i felt really humiliating and no help and as if I was talking to walls. I called again cyprus embassy and asked them for help, I gave them fax number of easy jet peopel and embassy faxed easy jet people relevent documents which stated I dont need visa. so after some time easy jet manger came down and asked me for my travel document and booking and said that i can fly to cyprus. nobody said nothing that its their fault and that they are sorry, nothin. anyhow I wanted to go same day but I wanted to go larnca airport which originally I booked my ticket for but they did not have any flight to larnca so i flew other port name si papos, which was 4 hour drive where my partner resides in cyprus so he and his whole family came to pick me hp all the way it was 3 0 clock in the moring when I got their home, I felt sick, weak, exausted and my confidence was shattered. now I am back in london and this whole experience has left me broken and I think next time when i will go airport I will be scared that may be they will not let me fly , I have this fear in me now. All i want is compensation, recognition that they were wrong and most of all change their system and provide more information to their staff that they know about travel documents and have thorough knowledge about this0 -
Please advise me what should I do?0
