EasyJet advised submitting 2 claims and Expenses forms.
However, it seems they're only covering part of the trip. Am I right in thinking they need to pay for (at least), flights, hotel, metro, train (the cost to get us to Edinburgh), or do I need to submit a travel expenses claim?
Hi,
I would try CERD first as it's free, plus really this is a straightforward claim.
They could not expect you to wait 5 days for their next flight so they should have offered to put you on a competitors flight or come to some arrangement with you about the best way to get home.
It's also pretty clear that they have to pay your costs to get back home via whatever means were available.
Use the CEDR online application and list all your costs.
You can always refer to a NWNF solicitor (not claims assistance company) or MCOL at a later date if you fancy DIY.
Good luck. Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.0 -
Hi
I hope someone can help.
I was on a flight from Nice to Luton airport on the 21/09, due at 10.55pm. This flight arrived late...by 2h58 mns according to Easyjet....but I know it was actually 5 minutes more ( 1.58on my phone). On flight tracker it shows the plane landing at 1.50 and taxi for 3 minutes before the doors were open which is completely unrealistic.
I presume easyjet will refuse to pay compensation of course!
Any help welcome
Thanks
Got easyjet email back today....
2h.58mn late so no claim
Even worse, I had to pay £ 30.00 extra for the mid-term car park since it want to another day...easyjet answer: Not our problem
This is the price to pay for cheaper flight??0 -

Hi a newbie, so sorry if this is in wrong place/wrong terminology etc. Been following site in hope of assisting in claiming expenses for a EJ cancelled flight, alas seem to be failing miserably. Whilst gained valuable info via site, and have learnt I am not alone in the path of frustration when dealing with EJ, I wonder am I wasting my time?
Details are - Text from EJ 2hrs prior to an early am flight Reykjavik (Keflavik) to London Gatwick .Friday 1/6/18 (family 5 adults, a return trip for our 35th Wedding Anniversary). Arrived at airport,no . ground crew available at all for any assistance. Spent extremely long and stressful teli call to EJ -- offered us rerouting 5 days later Wed 6/6/18! - 5 adults, work/life commitments , no.
Therefore looked into alternative flights, whilst in queue at other airline debating should we pay out the £300 each return fare the next day, all those seats went. Only option left business class at £568 each (ouch) um'd and r'd, shock but no other options, so yes ok, oh wait, before transaction went through, price then raised again to £581 each (very last seats). In spite of a heavy credit card and stress, a very obvious pleasant return flight the next day and hence grateful to be back home.
Hence claim x 2 to EJ 20/7/18
Compensation claim excepted, £352.00 each received no problems.
Expense claim 20/7/18 ie Meals 5 x breakfast at hotel £90.45, KFC meal for 5 £53.35
Accommodation x 5 adults £425.44, Car hire £115.33, Flight x 5 adults £2907.68
All detailed receipts scanned (not credit card slips)
Em from EJ 8/8/18 - requested further copy of car hire details (all this they already had) but replied and scanned again next day.
28/8/18 EM form EJ -as wrote over 28 days for additional info to process claim, info not received so claim closed. (somebody can not count) Invited me to reclaim.
So 2nd Expense claim 30/8
EM from EJ 18/9/18 - expenses can not be reimbursed as receipts are invalid. It seems like you have entered wrong amounts claiming for reimbursement as it does not match with receipts, claim rejected, invited to reclaim. All invoices show every detail, place, names, correct amounts etc. As price on invoices are in Icelandic Knona, I have therefore entered those amounts on EJ form, apart from car hire, which as shown and paid in pounds, that's how I entered it.
I appreciate and not expecting the full cost of a return business ticket to be repaid, but surely something.?
Only took out basic travel insurance, so may look at that in a different way next trip.
So do you think worth submitting claim 3, have not tried other forms of contact to EJ and reluctant to hand over to company and pay them slice of expenses, when all seems straight forward to me.
Any tips/advise/opinions appreciated.
Regards and thankyou0 -
To put it simply EJ are dicking you around in the hope you go away.
Those claims are all perfectly valid, even the better class ticket, under the regulation.
Its time to put a stop to EJ tomfoolery.
Send your claim again (presumably you have a reference number etc) give them 14 days notice maximum as an NBA.
In the meantime, start completing your N1 claim form for the small claims court, getting copies of all your receipts including conversion from Knona to £ at the most favourable rate ie now or the date of your cancelled trip.
If you haven't already done so, read Vauban's superb guide on completing your court papers.
I would be tempted to use N1 paper form if there are 5 of you rather than MCOL. ALthough it is unnclear if expenses payment are individually applied to each passenger or grouped.
EJ wisely decided not to defend my court claim from 30th June 2018 and paid up. Although it still took 11 weeks from cancellation to payment. Compensation claim is currently with CEDR....
Perhaps in your email to customer.services, copy in also to this email address:

This is where it will go once you send in your N1 claim form.If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Hi, we had recently had a flight cancelled from Venice to London Gatwick, this was on 13th August 2018. Easy Jet arranged a flight home for us on the 15th August, we were provided a hotel and breakfast and had to take a car transfer that they arranged for the 15th which took us to Milan to then get on the new flight. So they got us home 2 days later than scheduled.
I'm pretty sure that other flights were leaving Venice when our flight was cancelled because we were the only queue in the airport.
Easy jet have informed me that they cannot provide compensation as the reason for the cancelled flight was due to bad weather conditions, an 'intense thunderstorm' overhead Venice which caused our plane that was inbound to divert to Verona, they even said they had to close the runway apparently. A bit strange because other flights were leaving Venice, if this bad weather was the case then the whole airport would have been filled with people from canceled flight surely?
In addition, I'm sure that the next day, the 14th, flights were able to leave from Venice but we still had to wait 2 days to get home?
Am I entitled to compensation for this as it was 2 days later that we got home and they couldn't arrange a flight home for us any sooner?
Thank you,
Nick.0
