Flight delay and cancellation compensation, Easyjet ONLY

No, it's not correct. EU261 says that when you are rerouted to a different airport serving the same area, "the operating air carrier shall bear the cost of transferring the passenger from that alternative airport either to that for which the booking was made, or to another close-by destination agreed with the passenger" (my italics). The potential problem, of course, will be to prove that you in fact made this agreement with easyJet staff since I'm guessing you got nothing in writing.
Yeah unfortunately nothing in writing, I assumed that the EasyJet staff at the airport were telling the truth and that this would all be straightforward! This is my first cancelled flight, I've learnt so much. I'll try to dispute it, but it might be a lost cause! Thanks!0 -

Another week on, past CEDR's own deadline for response and nothing. 2 messages posted on the discussion board and separate email sent.

I would not give this up. It is an unarguable fact that your flight to Gatwick was cancelled and that you were transferred to Stansted. That, plus your own evidence will be more than enough to convince a Judge of your claim. If EJ want to contest it in court they will have to call the person who rearranged your flight as a witness to give evidence that you are lying. So I recommend a 14 day LBA and if they still don't pay, sue them.0 -
EJ have just responded to my NBA/LBA email regarding expenses refund... of 19th July......... 2 months after taking them to court and getting paid...
The reply rambles on about looking into my "compensation claim".
There is no mention of a compensation claim in my email.
I really do wonder how they run a company if they they have numpties like this working for it.
On a positive note CEDR has finally got of the ground and EJ have until 12 October to defend or pay up for the compensation claim. If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

This case only goes to show that the airlines will plod along with cases in their own time and it is only when someone sta rats Court prodceedings that they sit up and start treating the matter seriously.0

Hi,
Our flight from Bologna to Gatwick was cancelled last year (27.10.17 EZY8990), supposedly due to an Italian strike.
However, by the time the flight was cancelled, the strike had been downgraded to only 3 hours and only affected a very few flights across the whole country.
Checking the departed flights board, nearly every flight from Bologna departed during the strike time apart from my one and one Alitalia flight to Milan. Botts seem to think I have a viable claim.
Do you think this is claimable? Also: should I go with a NWNF, or try it myself? Thanks, Dom0 -
Try euclaim as well and see what they say.0

I had similar this June, ATC strike that didn't happen. EJ seem to prefer to just cancel flight and leave passengers to sort themselves out rather than putting a little bit of effort in to sort things out.
Having had experience of the "customer services" department it would appear that EJ don't employ people capable of the above. If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Do you think this is claimable?
Claimable as in you will possibly win compensation if you pursue it to the fullest extent? Sure. Whether that will be the outcome or not is almost impossible to predict on what you've said. Whether you want to pursue it yourself or you use a NWNF firm like Botts is a up to you. If you're in the UK and feel you have a decent chance of being entitled to compensation I'd personally go for MCOL. If you think it's a bit more up in the air and don't want to spend the time then Botts is a good option.0 -
So an update on my EasyJet Claim/Expenses from a while back...
EasyJet advised submitting 2 claims and Expenses forms.
Both claims were rejected citing "weather", however I do have a screenshot from their site (taken at the time) that staff exceeded their working hours. So the question is CEDR or No-win, No-fee solicitors?
As for the expenses, again my form was rejected, but my wifes just sat on their system for 80 days! Eventually we contacted their CEO, who passed us onto their customer services team.
We've passed all our details/receipts (costs incurred for our trip back), Flights, Hotel, Train (had to fly to Newcastle as opposed to Edinburgh), Metro, train and taxi costs to get us home (I also chucked in the extra day I was charged in the airport parking, was almost as expensive as the week I had paid for!)
However, it seems they're only covering part of the trip. Am I right in thinking they need to pay for (at least), flights, hotel, metro, train (the cost to get us to Edinburgh), or do I need to submit a travel expenses claim?:exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!0
