Hello - I have been posting updates to my letter chain between easyJet and myself on one of the earlier pages, but not sure it is reaching the active community. With apologies, then, I am re-posting the full (and complete?) letter chain between easyJet and myself.

... BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH ...

Any advice on what the suggested next step may be, any tricks I may have missed or any comments in general will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I felt I was losing the will to live just there. They are giving you the runaround, and suggesting you go to the CAA (knowing it will take months for them to respond).

So I have just seven words of advice: take them to court, or walk away.

trying to get my head round this!!
So there was an electrical failure in the terminal, which is not owned or operated by Easyjet, nor is under their control. That delayed staff so delayed the aircraft.
And folk still claim it was Easyjets fault!

    Amazing

Hadn't received an answer to my email last Thursday, rang yesterday and was fobbed off. Rang back today and the chap was more helpful, bit worried as he seemed convinced my Visa Debit is a Visa Credit but he's stated the refund has gone through so we'll watch this space.
  • I shall repeat the advice I gave you on 18th Feb soon after you first posted of your delay:

"IMO you have given the airline long enough and ample opportunity to settle, time for a LBA and then small claims..."

2 months on and you have ignored the advice given entirely:mad:
Last chance to act on the advice or I'm out!

Do not continue to correspond pointlessly with the airline except to issue a LBA/NBA and then a legal claim as anything less than this will receive short shrift and is wasting your and our time further on this.

Sorry, I haven't ignored your advice, and that is obviously still an option but I would like to be absolutely sure I have given easyJet every means to resolve amicably. I think this will look more favourable in a court setting, though may be wrong. I have contacted CAA with pretty much a copy of the above, I shall post an update here if anyone is interested. Do not want to annoy anyone any further! :(

    Cheers!

    My dear friend,

Listen up. Let me quote a wise man (he claims to be a man, though he could be an insect): "This will not be a simple letter writing exercise."

If you want your money, taking the airline to court is not "an option" - it is your only option. Man up and bite the bullet, or walk away. The choice is yours. But quit the missives: they ain't worth the paper they (aren't) written on.

Hi guys,I am getting nowhere with Easyjet...has anyone used a no win no fee company to get a refund/compensation from them?
Also I read that the law is changing in the near future ,stopping the airlines using the excuse of extraordinary circumstance",if so would be better to wait to get a refund until this legislation pass?

I believe you are mistaken kind sir, for my moniker is that if an arthropod rather than an insect!

As for wise, again sadly mistaken...

To be fair, insects are arthropods too - though I will concede that not all arthropods are insects.

As the Sturgeon judgement says clearly: "Although insects and centipedes are both arthropods, centipedes belong to the chilopoda class and all insects are categorized in the insecta class. But either could run an airline better than Monarch."
  • Hi,

I wanted to take some advice whether people think I have a valid claim for compensation for a delay as I am new to this.

easyJet Paris CDG > Liverpool flight 21.04.2013 was scheduled to leave CDG 7.40pm. at 7.20pm we were called to the gate and in the que and ready to board as easyJet staff awaited to take our boarding cards when the screen flashed up 3hrs 55 minutes delay.
We were given little further information. Having eventually boarded the aircraft 4 hours later easyJet inflight staff informed us that the delay was caused as our aircraft was used as a substitute for another scheduled flight which had developed a fuel leak. Our flight went off to another destination. It then had to return to Charles de Gaulle Airport 4 hours later for our scheduled flight.

    Grounds for a claim?

thanks in anticipation for the advice.

IMHO, Yes. Grounds for a claim.
  • About 2 years ago, we were delayed 6 hours by Easyjet on return from the Canary Islands. They claimed bad weather but every other flight from Gatwick was on time.

As a result, we missed our last train home from Gatwick and incurred costs of about £140 arriving home in the small hours. Easyjet offered us a voucher of 5 Euros each which got spent on rather nasty food on the return flight.

We were careful enough to get a signed Notice of Rights before departure so were confident Easyjet would refund our costs. WRONG! They procrastinated for months.

Martin Lewis article on the resolution last Autumn advised how to file a claim with the CAA. This worked a charm, albeit it took about 5 months, and we received compensation of 400€ each last month. Enough for another 3 trips to the Canaries! (with another airline, or are they all equally devious?)

    Thank-you, Martin
