    Hi

My family and I had a flight from Murcia (Spain) to Newcastle in July 2007. The flight was delayed by over 7 hours.
We live in Edinburgh, Scotland (then and now).

As the flight was over 6 years ago, I understand that this is beyond the time limit for small claims.
Being realistic, is there any point in me contacting Jet2 to try to get compensation?

    Thanks for your help,
    Calum

    No - no point :)
  • JET2 - ongoing (end March) saga...
The early feedback from them was ' flight was more than 2 years ago - under British law 'too late to claim. Then it was the 'extraordinary circumstance' phrasing and 'sorry - claim dismissed. CAA involved from an early stage - pointless exercise but (probably) necessary.
Last letter to them giving them a target date for their verdict before I go to the small claims court
    QUESTION:
Was anyone on the same flight?
It was in 2008 travelling from Manchester to Faro (flight no: LS875) on 13th August
Would be interested if anyone has claimed for this and how JET2 are proceeding
    Thanks
  • I have written to Jet 2 with a claim for a 6 hour delay in 2008. Their response seems to be differenet from all the others I have read here, they say nothing about 'circumstances' but have refused because they say the claim period is 2 years? Anyone had the same?

No Jules - none of us have ever heard about this two year rule before, and its certainly impossible to find any reference to it on this forum. I wonder what it might be about?

Now now dearest Vauban, sarcasm shouldn't be used to mock the afflicted..... Maybe the poster can't be bothered or is unable to read any posts? :)

Maybe colour blind as well? Or size-ist?

I can't see anything in big red letters in the FAQ's that might refer to this ;)

On a more positive note, I did get to use a "thinking" emoticon. So it wasn't entirely a wasted effort.

our lead name on the booking has been trying to push forward with our claim from may when our flight to portugal was delayed for 51/2 hours. he has received a letter saying they cannot deal with him as he booked his flight under a different booking form the other 29 of us (mainly because he was due to return home a day ealier).
They have asked for the next lead passenger to resume all correspondence, but were guessing its the next name on the booking?

Anyway, they have replied stating that no compensation was due as the delay was caused by extraordinary circumstances.

What do i do next to take it forward? is there a template letter where i can ask for further details of the EC?

    thanks in advance
