Hi
I was delayed for what I thought was 3 hours on the Jet2 flight LS863 from Manchester to Murcia on 7th June 2012. It certainly departed over 3 hours late but Jet2 informed me the actual arrival time delay was 2 hours and 55 minutes, which was suspiciously close to the limit. Unfortunately I can't get any other official confirmation of the arrival time from FlightStat since it didn't have data on that particular flight. Anyone got any ideas how I can get that data?
Thanks
It's very tricky when this happens.
Jet2 will have documentation to prove the actual arrival time. You can ask to see it, but they'll probably just ignore you or tell you it's confidential.
The legal mechanism for requesting the document is by making an Application to the Court for Pre-Action Disclosure.0 -
I've had a couple of letter exchanges with Jet2 and their latest reply is claiming EC for 'a leading edge asymmetry' and this caused them to send a crew from Leeds to Newcastle in order to send another plane to fly us back to from Lanzarote to Newcastle, arriving 7 hours late.
I've done a bit of digging into what 'a leading edge asymmetry' is and it seems to be a problem with the hydraulics controlling the slats on the wing that provide lift (I cannot post links yet, but google 'faa leading edge asymmetry' and it's the first result).
Anyone else had this reason from Jet2?0 -

In basic terms, as you say, it is a hydraulic problem which in turn equates to a technical problem. Hydraulic problems are commonplace on aircraft not extraordinary. A technical problem is not an extraordinary circumstance it is an ordinary occurrence.0 -

Yes, that's what I thought. MCOL next then.0 -

I think you are right. Looks like Jet2 use the term "lead name" and strangely find the concept to their benefit - until someone wants to exercise their rights against them!
www.jet2.com/new/terms
[my emphasis]
"1.2 The person making the booking is classed as the “lead name” in any booking which includes more than one person. Where you are the lead name you guarantee to us that you have the authority to accept (and do accept) these Terms and Conditions (and our Regulations and Policies) for each person named in your booking and that you have drawn these Terms and Conditions to their attention. You will be the primary contact with us and will accept any communications/correspondence from us (or our suppliers) on behalf of your entire party."
This is extremely helpful, I think.
I have received a letter from MCOL containing the defence and asking me to confirm I wish to proceed (+40 quid!) Also, a form indicating I was happy to use Mediation - I said OK. I copied this to 2Birds with a letter saying I would be happy to help Jet2 avoid all the expense of Court with a reasonable offer, and got a courteous reply saying they would put my suggestion to Jet2.

Hi
My family and I had a flight from Murcia (Spain) to Newcastle in July 2007. The flight was delayed by over 7 hours.
We live in Edinburgh, Scotland (then and now).
As the flight was over 6 years ago, I understand that this is beyond the time limit for small claims.
Being realistic, is there any point in me contacting Jet2 to try to get compensation?
Thanks for your help,
Calum0
