    Your delay time for compensation purposes under Reg 261/2004 is based on arrival, not departure times. Check flightstats (see FAQ stickie at top)

    Ahem, NoviceAngel would sign up to that! Lot's of local families all blighted by 'extraordinary circumstances'.:p

    You're ahead of me DrA_Harrogate, i've just had the Jet2 defence and requested transfer out to local court, just waiting for a court date.

    it was 5 1/2 hours. Queued up to board to be told we were delayed, told to wait for more info an hour later, went back an hour later told to wait another hour, went back again told another hour. After that we were told a part had failed with the toilet system and they were waiting for someone to drive it from east mids to manchester.

    This is jet2 who have a massive presence at man airport but no spare parts or planes.

    Booked flights for 6 for December. Booked and paid for a weekends accommodation at a substantial cost

    Jet 2 contact me today to say the flight is cancelled - offer me an alternative 4 days earlier. I contacted them and they basically said tough its in our t&cs.

    So I said to them theres an alterternative flight from another airport but on the same day/time - can you organise the swap? 'NO'

    Appalled! There must be something I can do - the alternative flight is more expensive and from an airport further away which will cost us more money.

    I haven't accepted a refund as yet.

    As far as I am aware, you should be offered alternative routing or refund. No compensation due as more than 2 weeks notice. Sucks but there it is. Others may know better.
    Any other airline doing similar flight?

    I concur. Jet2 have no responsibility for your accommodation costs UNLESS it's a package tour. It does not sound as if this is the case. Caveat emptor!
