Done my claim letter for 3 hour delay Manchester to Majorca 7 Sept 2012
Jet2 said no claim as flight delayed because of safety issue
Can I do anything?
Thanks0 -
Hi everyone!
My flight delayed more than 3 hours from Manchester to Budapest in 2010. The reason was, airplane has got some engine problem. A member of Jet2.com staff told us,and showed the airplane. Some mechanic tried to fix it.We had to waiting for another coming airplane from Spain.
I tried to check the Flightstat website, but there is not any information about it.Nothing. I sent my clai to Jet2.com, and I received their answer: " extraordinary circumstances led to delay of your flight.More specifically the delay was caused by unexpected flight safety shortcoming. " Yes,because the airplane broke down!
My questions are:
1: How can I find any information about this flight?
2: What are you thinking about this situation? Is there any chance to get any compensation?
Thank you.0 -

Hi,
It's been suggested I repost my question here. We flew with Jet 2 out of Alicante to Manchester in July 2010 and had the flight delayed with 2 days notice from 20.40 on the Saturday to 03.45 on the sunday. Can I claim for the delay? Obviously we were stuck in Spain and had to find accomodation for an extra night.
Any help appreciated!0 -

Yes you have a valid delay claim plus with receipts you will be able to claim off Jet2 for your accommodations costs etc. Whilst you have a valid claim this does not mean Jet2 will automatically pay out. Start off by obtaining claim forms and an explanation for the delay from Jet2.
It may be worth your while posting flight number and specific date as others may be in the same boat0 -
Thanks 111KAB good idea! (Can you tell I'm new here?)
It was flight LS 880 Alicante to Manchester originall due 7th August 2010 actual 8 August 2010 - Sorry July was when we flew out. (Subject to another delay of 7 hrs! )0 -

Well sounds like you have two separate claims so keep them separate. A quick trawl using your LS880 flight number in the search facility may throw up others who had the delay problem likewise your flight number for the July flight out.
Possibly also worth getting a screen printout from flight stats (see page 1 FAQ's) to indicate actual delays.
Always send any copies to the airline not originals and you do not need to pay for recorded just ask for proof of posting.0 -
Cheers for that - letter will be in post tonight.
The earlier delay out - seems more straight forward, but no harm in trying is there!0 -
I haven't posted on here for a while, but i've tried to keep up with reading all the other posts.
I noticed there's also new success and failure threads on the board.
From the posts i've read i can't help but feel like Jet2 are getting away with it.
From their delayed flights to delayed responses and on to their seemingly untrue explanations for delays that the average joe bloggs is unable to prove wrong.
In my case i'm pretty certain that the delay was a simple knock-on effect from a plane landing late which was to be used for my flight. Jet2 came back with a reason (excuse) i am unable to prove wrong myself, so if the CAA buy it what hope do i have?
There was no time for Jet2 to diagnose the extraordinary cirumstance they gave, as we were all hurried on to the plane as soon as the previous passengers alighted. The fact is that the 4 hour delay occured before the incoming plane landed, not at the airport after landing and before my flight departed!
To make matters worse the exact same thing happened on the return journey - 4 hours late into Manchester and 4 hours late out again!
The whole thing stinks of knock-on effects and flight shuffling by Jet2, but if the CAA think otherwise, how do you seriously take them on in court and prove them wrong without the backing of a favourable decision by the CAA?
Haven't even looked at a Jet2 flight since, so they've lost my custom for good.
Currently awaiting decisions from the CAA and Spanish NEB.
Last resort will be a no win no fee company and taking the 30% hit.0
