Excellent 1st post scrubrunner, an excellent result for you, and terrific timing on your part.:T :T

We all hope that finally the EC261/2004 regulations will indeed do what they were intended to do, to force airlines to maintain their aircraft better, and minimise delays for passengers.

    Cheers,

Hi bertcosby7, I posted a thread back in March this year advising people that I had house insurance with free legal advise and up to £10,000 legal fees for all sorts of legal stuff. The solicitor that was assigned to my case has had a reply (eventually) from Jet2 saying they will pay the full 800 euro we were claiming for, without us needing to go to court but after a NBA.
All his work is covered under the insurance policy so we get to keep the full amount. My advice would be to check if you have any legal cover like I had. Good luck.
  • What I really could do with is some advice on the reason for our flight delay.
The initial delay to the flight was caused by a fuel spillage which meant we missed our take off slot. We were then further delayed due to bad weather conditions.
So although I agree with jet2 that there were extraordinary circumstances delaying our flight if we had not encountered the initial delay caused by the fuel spill we would have taken off in time before the bad weather came in.
How would you recommend I proceed with my claim?
Also is there anyway of finding out the official reasons for delays on a flight?
    Many thanks all.

This is all very tricky. Who spilled the fuel - was this done when refuelling your plane or someone else's? How long was the initial delay before the weather caused problems? How delayed were you overall?

Most importantly - details of your flight please - route and date.

bert, there is only 1 runway at Chambery. Being in the Alps, it is prone to weather issues in winter, and slots are limited due to the way the runway has to be used - flights generally approach and take off the same way ie a 2 way runway, not one way like most (due to the mountains)
Chambery is great for the ski hols, but when something goes wrong, as I discovered, it often goes wrong big time.

flight LS682 on 08/02/2014 from Chambery Airport to East Midlands airport with the scheduled departure time of 17.30. This flight arrived 3 hours 29 minutes late at East Midlands Airport

    Hope this helps thanks

If you enter these flight details on the online Bott flight delay calculator it suggests you may have a claim. But I think it still sounds quite difficult.
