Just a quick note to say that Jet2 have finally paid up here as well.
Delayed in June 12. Initial claim rejected as extraordinary circumstances. Once that was ruled out in a test case I reapplied in 2015 only to get the 2 year T&C rejection. I didn't have the time to dedicate to fighting Jet2 so put it in the hands of Bott & Co.
Today two amounts of £217 have hit my bank account (one for me and one for the missus). I've not had the breakdown from Bott yet but it's £434 that I wouldn't have had so I'm happy.
I'm flying with Jet2 again soon. I wonder if I'd be allowed to board if I wore a T-shirt with "Jet2 compo paid for this flight" on it.0 -
Hi All,
Further to some very good advice on this thread I issued Jet2 with a (NBA) letter asking for compensation that was due and my intention to start court proceedings if i did not get a satisfactory reply within 14 days.
Well I received the standard letter saying that my claim would be dealt with in date order etc ..well today I received a letter 18/07/2015 stating that the delay was due to Meteorological weather conditions and thus my claim has been refused.
My issue here is that the flight was initially delayed because of a fuel spillage which in turn lead to a flight delay.
The flight was then further delayed due to the bad weather, the fact that as it was now dark further delayed our return from Chambery airport as they only use one runway after dark ??? so we had to wait for a slot on the one runway that was left operational.
Could I please ask for some guidance on how I should proceed with my claim.
Many thanks

You have obviously read Vauban's guide. I am assuming Jet2 are saying that the fuel spillage part of the delay was less than 3 hours, otherwise the weather bit would be irrelevant. Of course, they don't detail the weather element - i.e. was the airport closed, were they diverted etc etc. So do some adding up. The problems at Chambery are indeed out of their control and extraordinary.
So if you calculate that the delay due to the fuel spillage was more than 3 hours it's time to fire main guns and MCOL or NWNF.

My issue with them is that the fuel spillage was as we were just about to board the plane. At this point the weather was fine and without this avoidable spillage we would have been on our merry way long before the weather changed to further delay our departure.0

Received £636.69 from Jet2 via Bott and Co into my bank a/c this morning, almost a year to the day from our delayed flight. This was for 3 passengers delayed for 4.5hrs in Alicante. Can't praise Bott enough for making the whole process ultra easy. Their charges amounted to around £220 although not sure on exact breakdown at the moment as haven't received the breakdown regarding interest or exchange rate. Thanks to everyone on mse for the excellent advice and good luck with getting all claims paid out swiftly!!0

Did Botts email you to let you know it was going in?
I'm a bit disappointed with them tbh. We started our claim a long, long time ago. Seems others are getting pay outs quicker. We do not have a court date yet according to BottsLoved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!0 -

They emailed me about three weeks ago saying that Jet2 had agreed to pay my claim then a week later got a request for bank account details. I can't fault them at all but our case was pretty straight forward. Keep requesting an update from them cause at the end of the day they don't get paid till you do. Good luck0 -
Bott & Co emailed me this morning to say payment had been transferred today.
Checked, and it's there!
I initially claimed after our flight was delayed by 6 hours from Heraklion in 2012. Had the usual blurb, extraordinary circumstances blah blah. Got fed up hitting a brick wall like many others. Tried again after the test case to get the "Past the 2 year deadline" rubbish. Found out about Bott & co and signed up.
I have never had to email them or phone them. Like someone said earlier, they want their cut as well, so sit back and let them do what they do best. No bother for me, no fuss, just filled in a few forms.
I would never have pursued my claim, as to be quite honest, I was getting fed up with hitting that brick wall.
I knew what the fees were going to be, so I have no complaints whatsoever. 73% of something is much better than 100% of nothing in my humble opinion.
Cheers Bott & Co :beer:0 -

A good result for you, hopefully if there's ever a next time, you'll have the confidence to take them on yourself.
It's surprising just how many people have been put off by Jet2s rejection letters, at least you didn't walk away, and you've got some compensation in the end.
Cheers,

Hi,
I just wanted to say a big thank you to all the good people who have persevered through the courts, and paved the way for the rest of us.
I started reading this thread back in 2013, following a nine+ hour delay on a Jet2 flight from Chambery to Newcastle. I decided to wait and see what happened with the court cases. I did worry, I’d left it too late when Jet2 started contesting claims on the two year basis, but then it appeared there were signs of them finally giving in and reports of payouts; it was time to send off a claim.
Mid-June, I sent a letter based on the MSE template along with copies of booking confirmation, boarding passes and customer bulletins. I initially got the standard ‘we are dealing with claims in date order’ reply, then about 10 days ago, much to my surprise and delight, I received a cheque for the equivalent of €250… which has now cleared.
I may have lost out by waiting, certainly the falling euro hasn’t helped, but I’m happy with my 100% of something, without having had the hassle of going through the courts.
So again, many thanks to all the persistent pioneers.
Perhaps Jet2 will now take better steps to mitigate delays, so folks don’t have to sit around airports for hours on end. After all, wasn’t that what the EC regulation was meant to achieve.
