  • Apologies if this has already been mentioned, but it seems that on Friday the Supreme Court refused Ryanair the right to appeal against the outcomes of the Huzar and Dawson cases.

This means that anyone with a pending case which is between 2 and 6 years old or due to technical problems should now receive the compensation they are owed.

  • We were delayed for slightly less than 3 hours from Manchester to Krakow last week because we were waiting for the plane to return from Krakow (it had been delayed there due to fog)
Whilst flying we were diverted to Wroclaw (again because of fog) which is over 3 hour drive from Krakow (we didn't leave until 3.15am) and arrived in our hotel at 7am the following morning. Therefore we missed a night of holiday (meant to arrive at 23.10 the previous day)
I know we have no chance of compensation against weather but their communication was dreadful (no one told us where we were when we arrived at Wroclaw and no one said it's over 3 hour drive, in fact no one said anything)
What does anyone think? Worth a complaint anyway?

    Thanks in advance!

Just a slight correction ... the Supreme Court refused Jet2 and Thomson an appeal hearing. Therefore the Huzar judgement (technical problems are not extraordinary) and Dawson judgement (6 years not 2 years) are the current law which Ryanair must abide. Ryanair had not applied to the Supreme Court as they were not (directly) involved in either case.

As it is stated by the airlines that it is an extraordinary circumstance. so you have no due compensation.

Totally incorrect information in your circumstances Manchesterfield - ignore. You have a fully justifiable claim.

Yes there do appear to be one or two contributors providing inaccurate information.....

  • Hi Has anyone got any joy from Ryanair I have sent two letters to them now and had no response from either of them. I tried to fill the form online but it needs the reservation number which I no longer have, my flight was delayed in 2008. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

I don't think that anyone gets any "joy" from Ryanair. It seems that one has to start the legal process before Ryanair will play ball.

Unless your flight was delayed in December 2008, you are out of time - you have six years to bring a court claim.
