Flight delay and cancellation compensation, Ryanair ONLY

Was on a Ryanair flight from Marrakech to Stansted on Sunday. It was delayed 8hrs 15mins.
We were initially told that the delay was due to the crew having not turned up. Then told the pilot had been taken ill and therefore we needed to wait for another pilot to be flown over. It was only when we boarded the aircraft the story was then changed to a mechanical fault.
How do I know what to believe? Has this happened to anyone else?0 -

Short answer to your question is "You don't". But I bet a pie and a pint that whatever delayed you wasn't extraordinary ... So start legal action without delay.0 -
Hi, did you have any luck with this? As I too was on the same flight, and have written to Ryanair requesting compensation, as do not believe that staff gone awol comes under 'extraordinary circumstances!' although their website says 7 days for a reply, and I haven't heard anything back!0

Like Vauban says in the post above yours, the only way you will find out is by starting legal action, go to my post 622 and also on the front page of this thread for a step by step process how to do this.
Otherwise you'll be waiting a lot longer than 7 days....Successfully sued Ryanair in 2013/14...and have been 'helping' litigants since then.

The next day I sent an email to which I haven't had a response. I think it was wednesday last week ( i have rec somewhere) I sent a letter to customer services giving them 14 days to send compensation. I will give them the 14 working days before taking it further. Can you PM me - I wonder if it helps to have back up witnesses - I was with my two sons.

I want to cancel insurance booked in error on flight however went into their website and there is somewhere you can actually cancel it but sor some reason after you enter your booking number, it spits out a security number/letter thing for you to copy but after 22 attempts of entering their codes it still not take you into allow you to cancel it, and at this rate by time I do it will have gone past the 14 days cooling period. so any advise on number will be good, thanks0 -

Interesting development. In Ryanairs written submission i have been invited to call them with a view to discuss and resolve the issue on a " without prejudice " basis. What would be the forums view of this please.0

It is odd to include that in their written submission: if Ryanair want to settle, it would be for them to do the chasing, I imagine: after all, they know where you live.
If Ryanair wish to save themselves the further costs they would inevitably incur by continuing to resist your legitimate claim, then you might signal you're reasonable enough to take their call. But I would be clear, esp post Huzar, that you're not in the market for compromising your statutory entitlement. Though you might offer to waive interest?0 -

Excellent advice as always from our Lord Prof Vauban, if their offer doesn't excite you, at least you have shown that you are willing to try to resolve the issue, include this in your submission to the courts too...hopefully their offer will be appealing.
