  • I was asked by the school to claim for the class and the teachers travelling with them. I did so and now I am at this stage where Ryanair refuses the claim.
Should I split the claim and take in 2 or 3 claims through ESCP?

symphony - thats an awful lot of hassle for you to take responsibility for and I suspect may cause significant issues and complications through the courts.
As Ryanair have dropped out of the ADR scheme, I suggest you go straight to CAA with your complaint and claim first?

No, claim again and this time just for your son. It's not your job to claim for other people's kids.
  • I suspect that Ryanair who are difficult at the best of times to claim from would require a letter from every teacher and every parent of the children authorising you to act on their behalf. Not your job.

I was trying to be a bit more diplomatic.... ;)
The biggest issue I see is that you will have to get legal authority to claim for a group of juniors. I see trouble ahead with that one.

    Justice beat me to it..

  • I think you would have enormous difficulties to run a claim for a group even dealing with a UK airline. With RyanAir being based in Ireland the problems will be even greater. Let the other parents sort their own claims out.

Went to CAA, they declined to deal with it as the flight originated in Hungary.

Can't start a new claim just for my son on Ryanair's website as it states that he claimed once already.

Ah, my apologies, should have read you post fully :)
Then start the ESCP process, just for your son. Assuming you are successful, other parents can then use your experience and case success to move forward.

  • Symphony63,
I can't fault your efforts and willingness to take this forward for the many. Shame the school and maybe some of the teachers didn't have the same willingness.
As many have stated on here, claiming for the many could prove difficult although I'm not saying it can't be done within the thresholds of the ESCP.
I also see issues with representing minors that aren't your own family, and adults too.
Do yourself and everyone on the trip the biggest favour of all and progress the claim through ESCP for your own son.
Of course this could prove problematic enough but, help is on hand here from people who have seen it and done it all before.
When you win, as JP states, the other families and teachers can use your success as (albeit non legally binding) a persuasive argument back in court.
Good luck and keep going ( for yourself first).
Successfully sued Ryanair in 2013/14...and have been 'helping' litigants since then.

    Current known score:-
Dr Watson 35 - 0 Ryanair / Ince and Co

Go to post 622 on the Ryanair thread to read how to sue them safely.
  • I am still waiting for the Care Compensation from a Ryanair Flight cancelled on 15th September 2017.
ADR have upheld my complaint and Ryanair should have paid me by 8th December as they have my bank details,However no money received.
Should i now instruct a solicitor to commence proceedings?
Has anyone a telephone number for Ryanair?
