Flight delay and cancellation compensation, Ryanair ONLY

  • Good afternoon.

    Perhaps somebody could help.

My husband and I are trying to claim through Resolver for our 8 hour flight delay with Ryanair 4 years ago.

The problem is they have replied asking for a booking reference.
However we have no paperwork or emails (we must have deleted them)
Ryan air say nothing can be done if we cannot provide the booking reference.

Are we out of luck here?

Possibly. You need to be able to show you had a booking and were on the flight, althoug if you provide all your details, date, route they should be able to find your booking.

Unless you have a booking reference, Ryanair may be unable to find you.
However you could be equally awkward and throw a SAR at them which will force them to reveal any data they hold on you, possibly including a booking reference.

  • Are you saying this is my only option?
Should I do this through Resolver?
To clarify the booking was not made or paid for by ourselves. Although all booking information has been lost.
  • Would a SAR be valid for Eire?

I believe an SAR equivalent is valid across the whole of the EU. Eire certainly has an IC and a similar scheme.

I maybe wrong but I would have thought you could issue a SAR in the UK as the company operates under UK data protection /GDPR regualtions?
The airline website should give information on this.
lass66 I suspect you will struggle to progress your claim if you have no information/proof.

  • If this was four years ago, you didn't make the booking yourselves, you have no documents and neither do the people who made the booking, I think you will have your work cut out after all this time.

    Hi,

Things have change a bit since Vauban wrote his guide.

Before you go down the legal route have you looked at AviationADR who are an alternative dispute resolution company? they can be found here...

    https://www.aviationadr.org.uk

Try them first as the legal route would be via the ESCP system, see DrWatsons great guide for that.

Claim for all your losses and EU261 compensation when you do claim, they can only say no.

    Good luck.

I have had a reply from Ryanair who are sticking to their original decision, Considering we know the originally diverted flight took off from Manchester 2.5 hours later I am some what surprised.

as such I have submitted my complaint/file to ADR.

Anyone care to explain what the process is now with ADR

    Thanks

You are far more restricted in terms of viable options against Ryanair than most other airlines, so still worth taking the ADR option first.

    Good luck.
Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.

With the ADR, you have to keep pushing all the time, or like the airlines, they slack a bit.

  • My flight in August 2018 was delayed by 5.5 hours. I was due to land at 19:40 (and had a prepid £10 train ticket.)
However, we actually landed gone 00:30.

I then had to pay £76.10 for an uber back to my flat. Stansted airport to Clapham, London.

After 14 complaining emails with no response, over 3 months, they have finally started to reply. They have agreed to reimburse my £55 dinner costs at the airport, but have refused to pay for the reimbursement of £76.10.

Is there anyway i can get this money off them?
