I had the misfortune to have two flights cancelled from Stansted to France in one week - 22nd and 27th May. Was caught up in the Stansted Sunday Shambles and queued for a solid 8 hours at customer services to get another flight. I know I'm not entitled to compensation for 22nd as it was France's fault (again) but on the 27th I had been told my flight was ok and had gone through security and was enjoying a coffee when the flight was cancelled. According to reports there were 12,000 people crammed into a steaming hot airport, all going nowhere. I can confirm that it was the case - although I didn't count everyone personally.

I have sent all the details of extra costs for accommodation etc. to the address given at customer services only to be told today that it went to the wrong place and I should apply again. Grrrrr.

My question is, am I entitled to compensation for the second cancellation as it was due to bad weather in a way? I am getting conflicting information from the internet, which I don't really understand anyway. Should I use Resolver to claim compensation only or, compensation plus all my expenses?

In time, the trauma of 27th May will fade...… Thank you for any advice in advance.

Except you cannot use that EU261 form on the Ryanair site, IF you actually took the delayed flight!

No s@"t Sherlock! Thanks for that helpful information....

They seem to be a claims assistance company after some free advertising.

Just an update - the Agencia Estatal de Seguridad A!rea found in my favour, and asked RyanAir to pay me compensation. "Will they?", is another question.

If they don't (I don't know what sort of means they have to enforce their decisions) you can always file a complaint with AviationADR and use the decision in support of your case.

Hi, just wanting an opinion from people...

I was due to fly to Glasgow one Friday evening from Stansted for a wedding the next day.

The flight ended up being cancelled and we didn't get out of the airport until nearly midnight. There were no flights to Glasgow the next day available. So my partner and I got a train back to London, stayed overnight at a hotel in Euston and got a 6am train from Euston to Glasgow the next day for the wedding.

Now I have been refunded the cost of my flight. Plus I have applied for compensation from Ryanair....still waiting........however I do have travel insurance, should I/is it worth it/or can I claim for the cost of the trains and hotels on my travel insurance? Or if I have claimed for compensation, can I not?

Hope someone can help! Any advice appreciated :j
    Everyday I'm comping..... :)

Do not accept the offer of a refund from Ryanair: they are obliged to provide EITHER a refund OR 'care' (hotel and food) plus rerouting (your rail ticket if they could not find a flight).

You should certainly inform your insurer, although any insurance payout is likely to be reduced by anything that you receive from Ryanair.
