    Hi everyone,
thank you very much for so many useful information which I found in this forum. I have few questions and I would be very grateful if someone could help me. On Sunday me and my husband were coming back from Corfu to Manchester. The flight was scheduled at 21:00, the flight was delayed by 6.5 hours and the reason was problem with blades. (The plane departed late from Manchester and on the way to Corfu was diverted to Italy where plane was changed and then landed in Corfu and finally we could board). After boarding the plane, we were told that flight will take 3h 15min to Manchester. When I woke up for landing I could see that we are definitely not landing in Manchester. After landing I turned on the location services on my phone to found out that we landed in London Stansted. The pilot advised that crew went over their flying time and we need to wait for new crew. We waited another 1.5 - 2hours and then finally departed and landed around 7:30am - approximately over 9hours later. While on the plane and at the airport I requested several times confirmation of late landing and departure as both me and my husband have travel insurance and we can claim some money back for flights delayed over 6 hours. I was ensured that Ryanair will provide this information. On Monday I called Ryanair and requested that information and at the same time I filled in document for flight delay compensation. First reply I received from them was that I arrived on time. I called them - told them that this is not funny and they asked me to send them an e-mail. I emailed them asking to confirm the flight delay and e-mail me the details of the flight. I specifically asked them to confirm how the flight was scheduled, how it actually went (late departure and diversion) with specific hours and dates and reasons for it. Again I was ensured I will receive everything within 48 hours. After 48 hours nothing happened, so another phone call in which I was ensured that I will receive it within 3 hours. After 3 hours I received e-mail in which they only stated that flight was delayed but not stating how long and reasons (useless for my travel insurance). I e-mailed and called again and I hope I will receive it today. My question is, if I don't receive it is there any authority which will provide this information?
In a meantime I received standard reply to my flight delay compensation request. I complained again but I expect the same answer. I assume that then I will need to follow standard process as described in guide (which is very very helpfull). My only question is, I'm Slovakian my husband is Czech, but we've been working in UK over 2 years and we live and work here. Can I still follow the guide and process as UK resident?

Thanks a lot and I'm very sorry for long story :)

nika87 - as you refer > read Vauban's Guide and Dr Watson's posts and then decide to either DIY a court claim or use a NWNF. Basically just get on with it and don't worry about confirmations etc. Your insurance is a separate issue and you can claim from both sources.

HI 111KAB, thank you. To be able to claim my insurance I need a confirmation from Ryanair that flight was delayed and they are reluctant to provide this information. Do you know if there is any other authority which can provide it?

As far as I am aware no one else can provide .... keep pestering them on this issue and advise your insurers of the situation. When Ryanair finally settle your compensation claim (either DIY or NWNF) you will have delay confirmation.

    Hi Everyone,

I can't believe it but Ryanair sent me an email just half an hour ago that they reviewed my claim and they are in position to pay 400EUR/per person and asked me to fill in all the details. They must have realized they have very weak case. Still can't believe it though. :)

    nika87,
Well done, a quick great result. :T
Maybe they had seen your posts on here.....we know they like to keep an eye on here.
Successfully sued Ryanair in 2013/14...and have been 'helping' litigants since then.

    Current known score:-
Dr Watson 35 - 0 Ryanair / Ince and Co

Go to post 622 on the Ryanair thread to read how to sue them safely.

Thank you, I just wish I had contacts on other passengers so I could encourage them to proceed. I'm still waiting for confirmation how the flight proceed so I can claim my insurance.

    Hi Jade 222,

I wrote complain through their online system regarding compensation for flight delay under EU261. It took them two days to reply to me. I first received the letter which stated that due to extraordinary circumstances they are not in position to pay out. Then I wrote another complaint in which I stated that mechanical fault is not considered as extraordinary circumstance (at the airport staff told me that reason for delay is problem with blades) and that another reason for that delay was diversion to London which was caused by crew going over their flying hours and that clearly is not an extraordinary circumstance. So I think you need to be persistent and be ready to take it further. I think they realised they have a weak case and if I took it any further it would mean just additional cost to them. Good luck!!!!
