I don't think anyone has received compensation from Ryanair! I even sent them a letter calling them 'Ryan'dont'care and i still had no response so i've instructed a solicator to take the case up. They are also struggling but have assured me they will sort it.
Corbo,
Really?
Well I did to the tune of around 1700 euros.
And I know of at least 24 others that have too...and there will be more.
If your solicitor is struggling, try a read of Vaubans guide and my post #569.
In this world of the Flight Delay Compensation forum, we're always here... and happy to help.

I've previously posted that I won and here's how. I appreciate that everyone's circumstance is different and for some its more about the money. For me it was about justice, showing Ryanair for what they are, lying, conniving, wriggly b@5t@rds5
1) In the first instance I used the standard template that is available on this forum.
1a) Received the standard response ' unexpected' blagh blagh etc.
2) Sent second letter, this time quoting court cases and precedents. Again this information is easily obtained by reading Dr Watsons posts and other contributors.
2a) Received another standard response "sorry" blagh blagh blagh " exceptional circumstance"
3) Presented all the details & information to the 'Botty' people a forum favourite,
3a) This was rejected and they didn't want to take my case on due to lack of flight data. ( which having looked at historical data on flight radar et al, it is missing)
4) submitted all the info to another flight delay company, this was accepted and on my behalf they wrote to RA
4a) Again this was rejected, more of the usual bovine scatology.
5) Was instructed to populate the CAA form online and present all of the rejection letters acquired thus far.
5a) Received confirmation from the CAA that RA accepted the delay was within their control. Received €750 ( £563) compo, and settled the bill with the flight delay company ( approx. £150)
Like I say. some folks want the Full Monty, but for me it was about justice and proving a point.
CAA transcript below
Dear XXXXXXX
Case XXXXXX
Thank you for your patience with us while we investigated your complaint about the disruption of flight FR8246 on 3rd August 2014.
Following our intervention, the airline has reassessed your flight and have informed us that the disruption of your flight is of a type which means that compensation is payable. It appears from the documentation provided, that the disruption was within the control of the airline and could have been avoided. Therefore this disruption does not fall under the extraordinary circumstances’ exception of the Regulation. As such, the airline has agreed you are entitled to compensation.
The airline has confirmed they will be contacting you to arrange payment. We have therefore closed your file as the complaint has been resolved.
Regulation EC261/2004 specifies that the compensation shall be paid as monetary compensation or with the signed agreement of the passenger in travel vouchers and/or other services. If you have not been offered a choice of monetary compensation, please contact your airline again with your preference.
Please allow time for the payment to be processed. If you do not hear from the airline within 4 weeks, please contact them directly with a copy of this letter.
Yours sincerely,
XXXXX
I hope this may be of some use for those seeking an alternative method to screw the b@5t@rd5. Its not all about the money. Justice can be so rewarding. Ohh yeah I did enjoy the remaining £400 compo by the way:rotfl:0 -

Hi guys,
My Ryanair flight was cancelled due to runaway closure (actually it was the only cancelled flight).
It happend in Turin, Italy, but the only flight I was suggested for rebooking was 3 days later from another airport (Milano). Early flights were fully booked.
Today I've got Ryanair compensation for another 3 days in hotels, train, taxi and 2 meals.
The question is - is it possible to get any compensation for the 3 days out of work, because I had to skip it and stay in Italy?
I was forced to accept another Ryanair flight or refund and no other option was available. Isn't it under the 261/2004 to put people on other airline and suggest an adequate rerouting option?
Any ideas will appreciated.
Thanks!0 -

Hi merkulka,
This sounds like a bit of a mess.
Under 261 regulations they owe you a 'duty of care' meals, food, hotel etc but not loss of earnings.
How long was the runway closed for? Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.0 -
runaway was closed for around one and half hours.
let's rephrase - is it possible to get any compensation for non adequate re-routing? it's italy, not antarctica, but i was forced to accept ryanair flight in 3 days and they declined to put me on other airlines.0 -
You should be able to claim compensation under 261/2004 of Euro250 as they have not satisfied one of the "hurdles" in the Wallantin judgement:
The third question
38 By its third question, the referring court is essentially asking whether it must be considered that an air carrier has taken ‘all reasonable measures’ within the meaning of Article 5(3) of Regulation No 261/2004 if it establishes that the minimum legal requirements with regard to maintenance work have been met on the aircraft the flight of which was cancelled and whether that evidence is sufficient to relieve that carrier of its obligation to pay compensation provided for by Articles 5(1)(c) and 7(1) of that regulation.
39 It must be observed that the Community legislature intended to confer exemption from the obligation to pay compensation to passengers in the event of cancellation of flights not in respect of all extraordinary circumstances, but only in respect of those which could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken.
40 It follows that, since not all extraordinary circumstances confer exemption, the onus is on the party seeking to rely on them to establish, in addition, that they could not on any view have been avoided by measures appropriate to the situation, that is to say by measures which, at the time those extraordinary circumstances arise, meet, inter alia, conditions which are technically and economically viable for the air carrier concerned.
41 That party must establish that, even if it had deployed all its resources in terms of staff or equipment and the financial means at its disposal, it would clearly not have been able – unless it had made intolerable sacrifices in the light of the capacities of its undertaking at the relevant time – to prevent the extraordinary circumstances with which it was confronted from leading to the cancellation of the flight.
42 It is for the referring court to ascertain whether, in the circumstances of the case in the main proceedings, the air carrier concerned took measures appropriate to the situation, that is to say measures which, at the time of the extraordinary circumstances whose existence the air carrier is to establish, met, inter alia, conditions which were technically and economically viable for that carrier.
43 In view of the foregoing, the answer to the third question referred must be that the fact that an air carrier has complied with the minimum rules on maintenance of an aircraft cannot in itself suffice to establish that that carrier has taken ‘all reasonable measures’ within the meaning of Article 5(3) of Regulation No 261/2004 and, therefore, to relieve that carrier of its obligation to pay compensation provided for by Articles 5(1)(c) and 7(1) of that regulation.<<
ie re-routing you on a different airline or route
Although this has rarely been tested in court, especially since the Huzar judgement. If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Can anybody tell me if they were on the flight that sat on the runway for 5-6hours and then was cancelled. We were not provided with Drinks/ Food or accomm. We traveled to Liverpool to get the flight teh next day as that is all Ryanair could offer.
Can anybody tell me if i am just entitled to meals/ accomm / cost to get to Liverpool or can i claim for flight being canceled. If anyone who was on the flight help or anyone else advise. I have tried to look on flight checker that shows stats and it shows flight being cancelled but what it does not show is that we were delayed for i think it was 5 hours before they cancelled.
Not sure if any of this makes sense?
If anyone can help as never received a penny form Ryanair.
Thank you0
