Just wondering how long they can claim 'adverse weather' as a get out after the actual event maybe 3 days ago?

It's not like there's a fixed time limit although the longer it is the harder it would be to justify that a weather-related cancellation could not have been avoided. Have they actually claimed that it's weather related?

Not as yet but it would be the obvious thing for them to do and other flight delays from other airports are listed on the tui travel infirmation site under the heading snow.

  • Re flight from Sanford to Gatwick TOM013 11 Oct 2012
I have written to Thomson before regarding this flight but got an email back saying that as the captain of the flight sustained an injury before the flight was due to depart, hence an overnight delay, they would not be obliged to pay compensation. It says that it was an extraordinary circumstance which could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken.
Just hoping that someone could point me in the right direction, is it worth trying to claim again. Surely they should of had stand by staff
    Thanks.

As richardw says, it looks like G-TAWF has gone tec at TFS. It seems to be still there.

If that is the reason you would be due 400Euros each.

    Hi Kate's,

Yes it is claimable, but you only have until Oct this year.

Crew sickness is not an EC unless one of the flight crew become seriously ill during a flight, just like a passenger who requires urgent medical attention during the flight.

You can double check by putting your flight details into one or two online flight delay calculators to see if they believe you have a valid claim too.

Have a read of Vaubans great guide, see details below.

Advised delay due to delay in incoming flight from Cape Verde caused by weather backlog last few days. Strange cant see any other delays today here and weather has been fine since Friday.

Measily £10 voucher for min 6 and half hour delay and all shops are shut as our plane is now last out.

    Plane is definitely a 757.

Will defo be putting my claim in. Have done 3 times successfuly before but all with thomas cook. Never experienced anything like this with thomson.

Plot thickens, i reckon the Cape Verde thing is a smoke screen as the flight due in at 2210 tom227 is on time. But a flight from tenerife due in at 5am this morning is not due in till early tomorrow so nearly 24 hours late flight tom2691.

Reckon they have sourced the cape verde plane to replace what would have been the delayed incoming tenerife flight?

If the delay is due to knock-on effect of several flights before yours, even if it is weather related, you can still claim.

I won against BA for an afternoon flight from FLA to LCY that had been delayed due to fog on it's first flight of the day from EDI to LHR.
