Hi
I'm new to this so please excuse if I'm repeating a question which has already been asked.
I posted a complaint to Thomsons on 29th April and sent a copy of the original booking confirmation. I haven't heard anything back and last week I sent in an online form to chase the letter up.
I still haven't had any acknowledgment or response at all - I also did another claim the same time to a different airline and they have already paid. Can anyone please advise how long their claim took to get a response in the first instance?
Many thanks

Hi Sweetpeas,
The response you got from the 'other' airline was a lot quicker than average, in fact you were very lucky. What Thomson are doing is more like the norm for the airline industry.
Follow Vaubans excellent guide and send them a LBA/NBA, no need to wait any longer. That should get things moving, eventually.
Good luck. Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.0 -

Jumping for joy after receiving a cheque in the post for my cancelled Lapland trip way back in 2009. €400 each making £1453.38. I never had any reference numbers or boarding passes but complained that their branch staff had told me they only keep records for 3 years so what good would these actually do! Amazed with the amount especially as the trip total was £1800 so turned out to be a real bargain, and got to meet Santa too!!0

I think it's just a case of being persistent, and as you say hopefully all claimants on our flight will get paid out.
I was in a party of six, but the others have continued with the next step after using Resolver, ie going to the CAA. From what I've read here and elsewhere though the CAA have no powers to force airlines to pay compensation, so I'd rather shortcut the system by using a claims solicitor even if I won't collect as much after fees.
I'll feel better once court proceedings are initiated by the solicitor, that way I know things are really moving, though I appreciate these things take time.
I seem to remember that the captain, when making the announcement about the faulty radar, mentioned a replacement part was available in the UK, or in the US. He said they had decided to get the one from the UK. I suppose that was because it was able to be sent over on their normal flight going out to Punta Cana. I wonder how much less of a delay there would have been if the part had come from the US?
I'll be sure to update here as and when there are developments.
Well, there have been developments since I wrote this earlier post.
My son and the rest of the group decided to complain to the CAA about the lack of communication from Thomson, and asked them to get involved to see if there was a valid claim.
The CAA wrote back to him stating they had been in touch with Thomson, and the claims had been accepted, and that compensation payments would be made in due course.
I was told by my son this morning that the 5 who complained had all received cheques for around £450 in today's post (I can't remember the exact figure, but I assume is the equivalent of 600 euros). They didn't go to court, they simply got the CAA involved. And here's me, who decided to go the NWNF route, still waiting for compensation because the last I hear Thomson is disputing the claim, and when/if, I get any money, a chunk of it will go to my solicitors for their expenses.
My own fault, not blaming anyone else, but maybe the CAA have more teeth than some would suggest.0 -
Looks like someone just approved a batch of cheques at thomson as mine came through the post today,
Big thanks to everyone in this thread, without this I would of no doubt accepted the original rejection letter as a fact and dropped it.
and of course thanks to Vauban for his guide, having all the information in one place saved many hours of researching!0 -

You and me both, like you still waiting for any response from Thomson via the NWNF route, my intial claim was rejected when i did it myself how can they refuse when they are paying people off the same flt.0 -

True, it doesn't make any sense at all. We were all on the same flight, same circumstances etc.
I have written to my NWNF solicitors letting them know about Thomson paying out the other members of the party. This should give them more ammunition should Thomson continue to refuse to pay.0 -
My NWNF company also have the wording from the CAA regardlng the overruling, which I obtained from someone on the same flt.
I think they will not pay us until they are threatened with court action, I would think then they will have no choice to pay us, I live in hope!0 -

Although highly persuasive, there is no law that states if one person on a flight is paid compensation then the rest should be automatically.
Hang in there, you are paying a NWNF company to deal with it, so just sit back, chill and the money will eventually roll in.After reading PtL Vaubans Guide , please don't desert us, hang around and help others!
