    Hi all,

I just got an email from TC (relations.customer@thomascook.com) saying that compensation is applicable and including a voucher for £699.30 (2 passengers).

In all it took them just over 20 days to review my claim. Not bad.

They have not refunded my hotel costs or even mentioned them so I'll write back. I need to ask for cash instead of vouchers anyway!

Thanks for the thread and all the help!
  • Hi can I just check I'm getting this right if someone wouldn't mind casting their eye over this for me?

Just back from 2 weeks in Turkey, flight booked through Thomas Cook (not a package). Outbound flight was 5.5hrs delayed Glasgow to Antalya, and return flight was 5hrs delayed Antalya to Glasgow for 4 passengers each way.

The mileage on the link shows as 9660km each way so am I right in thinking when using the template letter I am claiming 600 euros, per person, per flight = 4800 euros? It just seems like a lot of money - almost 4 times what we paid for the flights. Or am reading this all wrong?

Thanks in advance. First time I've ever pursued anything like this but I am just so angry with them.

Not quite - I make the mileage as 2913km - and therefore it is 400 Euros per person per journey delayed - ie 8 x 400 = 3200 Euros.

    I actually make it 3374km!
  • Thanks to both of you - now realise I was using Glasgow MT (wherever that is) not Glasgow GB. I did wonder how it could be so much longer than the London to New York example given!

So using Glasgow GB it says 3360 now. So that would indeed be 400 euros pp then.

Thanks very much - wish me luck!

Well I am not sure how we can get thier flight numbers as we booked with TC online, I am sure they must have it somewhere.

On another note is there a sticky/thread where those of us who have been successful can post the flight details etc to help others following behind, I have checked but i Cant seem to see one.
I got a brilliant person from customer relations today so helpful and she did every search going and finally found the other party and payment has been sent by bank transfer will receive this next friday. So thats both partys been paid compensation one £2,040 the other £2,620. Hope you manage to sort yours out

    .

Interestingly these 2 flights outbound GLA-AYT then inbound AYT -GLA have been delayed 5-7 hrs every week for the past 3 weeks. Surely that means they are just not scheduling correctly even though they have announced a different 'technical fault' over the tannoy each week? (know this from speaking to other passengers returning on our flight who went out on different weeks) Surely that means they are less likely to be able to claim EC?

Well you were doing better than me - I read it as Gatwick!!!
  • I have just had another response from Thomas cook, even though we were delayed for 23 hrs through a technical fault we are still not entitled to compensation because the airplane is serviced regularly, has anyone had this response and if yes how did you get on thanks ,
