Hello everyone! Have worked SO hard I'm treating myself to a cuppa and a look on here. :A :A
Martin was on top form today on Radio Two - anyone else catch it! He was all fired up - he'll make a perfect cockerell, PEN!!:j :j
RACY - you should write some stories or a book about your coots - I feel I know them so well especially after today's episode! :T :T
MRS MIX - Hope DS's interview goes well. My DS2 took the same path after school and ended up with a brilliant apprenticeship and now has a brilliant job; he was quite a worry because he wasn't at all academic - not like DS1 who has a first class with honours in Civil Engineering and a Master's Degree in Irrigation Engineering - don't know where he gets that brain from! DS2 really struggled at school, despite our help and encouragement, and TBH I don't think his particular school bothered much with pupils who struggled but as soon as he went to college it was as though a light went on and he excelled at everything. It made me very angry that the school didn't see his potential whilst he was there!
JOCKET - congratulations on that weight loss!:T :T
SAMSAM - thanks for professionally endorsing my Hot Buttered Plums! The recipe came from Nigel Slater's Fast Food. All you do is butter some bread (I use wholemeal, but he says 'good' white bread!), lay them in a dish, then halve and stone some softish plums and put them on top the bread cut side up, dot each plum with butter and sprinkle the whole lot with brown sugar and then bung in the oven - Gas 5 or 6 depending on your oven, for about 30- 35 minutes. The plums sort of collapse and soak into the bread - delicious with greek yoghurt with a little bit of honey drizzled over the top. Nigel Slater also calls them Plums on Toast but I think Hot Buttered Plums sounds more exotic and sinful! Good luck with the debt counsellor! :A :A
CATOWEN - sounds like the perfect birthday - I'll get you to do my next party!:T :T
LYNZ - when OH worked away on the oil rigs a few years ago, I always used to get someone in to do the heavy stuff in the garden because it was too much for me. It really encouraged me to get on with the rest of it knowing it had been taken care of. Re Jazmine - if she doesn't seem to be improving I would get her back to the vets. Good luck with her.:A :A
CAZZIEBO - Pleased to meet you! :hello: I've had the world's worst teenager and survived. Ask me anything, I won't be shocked, I promise. You WILL get through it but I know, at the time, there doesn't seem to be the hint of any light at the end of the tunnel. :A :A
PENPEN- Say hello to your new girls for me and, hopefully, a Martin, for me! Good luck with the sleepover. I remember those nights with my DSs when all they did was giggle ALL night!
DLB - men they are hopeless and helpless, aren't they? An old lady once told me that men don't ever get past the age of 14 and she was right!

MOGGINS - welcome back - you've been missed! Does FU fund mean what I think it does?!
DONNY - when DH drives I fall asleep within five minutes! He used to ask me to go on some of his long-haul trucking driving trips - to keep him company, but I was always dozing off! He gave up asking after a really really long journey from Southampton to Penrith when I was practically in a coma for the entire trip! He does agree that being the passenger is boring - when we share the driving through France he dozes off when I'm at the wheel which is why last time we almost ended up in Paris when we were meant to be going the opposite way!
PENPINCHER - Good luck with the essay!:A :A
TICKB - sorry you've been feeling down. Hope you're feeling better now?:A :A
REVERIE - SAMSAM says we're allowed treats now and then!:T :T
CRAZY - thanks for the recipe - will do that on Sunday when I plan a massive bake!:T :T
MUSHY - set your alarm to get up early. That's what I would do if nature didn't wake me up! I actually enjoy being up early enough to have at least an hour to myself in the morning. Means I can spend time on here and still get some chores done before DH emerges! :T :T
DANNA - yes my BM does have a dough setting. Also, is it OK to halve all the ingredients to make a smaller loaf - my first one was huge?! I've taken a picture of it and will post it on a smaller post later - I don't want to risk losing this post after all this typing if I try and copy it.
PATENTGIRL - good luck to Harry. I've been there and, unfortunately, it was me who ran him over! Not deliberately, of course, I would never have hurt him willingly - I loved him too much! :A :A
MRSFLITTERSNOOP - thank goodness they have found out about your cat's medication!:T :T
BEEMUZED - glad your DH has nothing to really worry about!:T :T
CSARINA - I agree with you about the supermarkets not being well-stocked, especially on a Friday. In fact, today I bought all my fruit and veg from the farm shop and all my meat - enough for ten meals - at the butcher's and I spent just under £30.00 and they had plenty of everything and it's all good stuff! My fridges and freezer looks wonderful. Just a quick trip to the Co-op tomorrow morning for the basics and I reckon I've saved a small fortune. Hope you manage to sort out your HB.:A :A
FREYA - pleased to meet you!
STEFIJIB - so sorry Butlins didn't come up to expectations - you were really looking forward to it as well.
Can't believe how long this post is and I haven't finished yet! I have to apologise for my bad manners. I was hoovering and thinking - as you do - and I remembered someone here asking me about my DS1's wedding in Italy in June. They asked if we had to do any planning for it and I'm sorry, I didn't answer. DS1 and his DP have arranged everything themselves and have insisted on paying for the flights (for those who are flying - we are driving there from France) and two nights at the hotel and a boat trip on Lake Garda! I don't know how they've done it. They've been planning it for months and months. I can't wait!
Last night's dinner was such a triumph that my DH proposed all over again! I did HM ratatouille (recipe in the indexed collections) with pork tenderloin and added some chilli and paprika (that was from someone else's recipe) and it was really really tasty; pud was baked bananas and yoghurt. Tonight's is a bit more basic because I seem to have spent all week peeling and chopping; it will be chicken pieces with roast potatoes, courgettes, sweet potatoes and some lovely spinach I bought this morning, all with gravy. Bread-and-butter pud to follow.
Sun keeps coming out and going in again but I am getting the third of four lots of washing dry. Have changed sheets and cleaned right through and now need to pack up things that sold on eBay and - maybe, make another start on the paperwork. Ironing will have to wait until Sunday, now!
This has probably bored you all rotten; sometimes I can't seem to stop typing! Sorry if I've rambled on. I'll look in again later. 'Oh, no!' I hear you all say, 'not her again!'KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

Had thought I would be able to while away the time this afternoon having a good read about you all. However at about 12.00 DD phoned to say she thought the boys would love to come over for the weekend and SIL will drop them off at my work about 3.30!!! That meant a frantic dash out for shopping in my lunch break to get some child friendly stuff in for them. However, delighted to be having them until Sunday morning.Have gathered that some folk have been having pet worries. Hope things improve. Also, I see you are back Moggins. Will try to catch up with you all properly later if my darling boys don't leave me knacked.Thoughts and best wishes to you all and birthday/anniversary greetings to anyone celebrating today.GB0

Hi everyone!
Haven't yet read the thread as am still "technically" working!! however, after the week I've had and the lack of lunch break I think I'm entitled to it:D Hugs to those who need them!
OS today has been bed stripping, linen changing and putting a white load on. OH has been ab fab this week and has done the weekly shop for me and all my ironing. He had even finished off my monthly menu plan for May which I was half way through. I think he views it as a damage limitation exercise as the less grumpy and overtired I am the less he'll get it in the neck....and he's most probably right!!:rotfl: :rotfl:
Tonight am off to a very glamourous fish and chip supper with a quiz at the small person's schoold. Shall definitely enjoy it more than last time as that time I had compiled all the questions [one of the joys of being the PTA chairman!!]
Tomorrow I am back here again [splendid] and then I'm going for a trot around the town to sort out my Dad's birthday. He's very difficult to choose for as he has all he wants [especially on a budget] but he is a keen walker and I've decided to do him a walker's rest kit in a rucksack...so far got a bottle of posh bitter, a cruchie [his fave], Kendal mint cake, some ridiculous plasters, a walking mag and going to make him some HM mustard to go in his sarnies. In the evening I'm off to a may day celebration and shall cycle so I can enjoy a small drink:beer: As for Sunday [as per my Mother's stern warning last night to rest I shall go on a freebie nature walk at the local nature reserve and take it easy apart from that. It'll be feet up next week as the small person is off on a residential school trip...it'll be the first time he's slept anywhere apart from at my parents so that'll be strange. Pub here I come!! Woo Hoo!
Have a fabby weekend.

Hi everyone, hope you've had a good day, although after reading through the thread I can see that some have had a tough day.
patentgirl Hope your little cat is ok.
Moggins Glad to see you back and happy.
Well I'm shattered! another busy day at school and lots of LOs to teach and I can't face cooking/bunging anything in the oven so yes you've guessed it...CHIPPY!!!! :rotfl:
Have a good evening.0 -
Hello
Haven't posted for a couple of days been extremley busy at work and home. I have tried to read the threads but my DS is hogging the computer doing revision for his SATs which are in a couple of weeks.
Not really much to tell you I'm afraid, just wanted to say hello. Got a busy weekend planned, got usual stuff to do ie washing, ironing, cleaning, shopping. I'm hoping to cram in a visit to my nan's and some gardening.
Anyway, hugs to those that want/need them and belated birthday wishes to those that have celebrated.

Im sure I can manage that so got some breadcrumbs out of the freezer in preparation!Lynz Good luck with the ticket booking. Don't forget to check what jabs you need, some of the treatments you have to start well before you go.

better get back to some serious moneysaving! the flights werent cheap :beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
SAMSAM - thanks! Yes, don't get me started, either!  It's Friday - I'm not going to think about it! It's my DS2 who would definitely qualify for an Irritation degree! I am SO glad that things are looking up since your meeting with the debt counsellor. :j :j Each post from you gets more positive - when I think how despairing your first one was, its very heartening! Onwards and upwards, I say! Have a great weekend with your family and your little Yorkshire Terrorists!
SHEZ - hope the numbness has worn off now!
PATENTGIRL - so glad Harry's gong to be OK! (((hugs))) from me to him! Love the name - we've had four cats over the last thirty years and they've all had human names - George, Robert, Dennis and Trevor!! Really makes them part of the family, doesn't it?:j :j
PENNINEMAN - don't think we've met but pleased to meet you!:hello:
CRAZY - good tip re posting on word pad first except I forgot to do it this time! Hope your headache has gone!:T :A
MRS MIX - sounds really positive for your DS1 - well done and good luck. He deserves his pizza!:T :T
ARIL - how much do you charge to hire out your OH? He sounds brilliant! Mine isn't too bad, really, I'm still training him - we've been together for nearly 29 years (OMG, is it that long?!) so progress is not exactly swift!

I have actually made a real breakthrough in my paperwork - everything is in folders with new stickers on them. It made me feel as if I was back at school doing a project!:j :T
I now have to clear up my knitting which was attacked by my GD yesterday - I had to hurriedly hide the doll I've been making for her so it was all shoved behind the sofa and I forgot about it until I moved it to hoover behind it! Don't be too impressed; I don't often hoover behind the sofa - my name's not Anthea!:rotfl: :rotfl:
Well, still haven't packed up the eBay stuff so going to do that right now so that it can be posted tomorrow!:j :j
Hope to look in again later! Managed to keep this post quite short this time, haven't I? Don't think this is a new trend, though! :eek:KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:
