  • I think the top of the london eye, not as romantic as the Empire state but good all the same. You could always have dinner at the old county hall building afterwards, decor is fantastic and the food brill!

unless you book a private flight there is a small problem with this idea....
i have been on the eye a few times now and i have never had a capsule where its just been *my* party in there,
we have always shared with tourists, kids, photo snappers and loud know it alls with the "yes.... if you look over there you can see the new wembley arch" like they are the first person thats noticed it! :D
not having a go at them... just saying its not the most romantic venue UNLESS you book one of those champagne flights,
also i would recommend booking a nice hotel to go with it... try the city inn (http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g186338-d275581-Reviews-City_Inn_Westminster-London_England.html really look around for a good price, we stayed there for £80 and it is now my favourite hotel in london!! ive stayed in some real dives for only a little bit less than the price i paid at the city inn)

    good luck!

We got engaged here: - http://www.four-pillars.co.uk/Spires/home.html

It is very expensive during the week but at the weekend it is about 90 pound for a la carte meal and bed for night (that being a 4 poster bed).
Our dream has come true... :D

I think you're better spending money on the ring and making the experience part of it tailored for *her*. Ask her about where is special to her. Could be her parents back garden, a beach she used to go to as a child, somewhere she holidayed and really loved. Or as the others say could be where you first met, where you had a special date etc. The BIG and IMPORTANT thing (tip for all guys here!!!) is that you thought about her and what she wants, not about some kind of general idea of what is romantic. It is the thought and it being personal to her that's romantic, not the actual place itself.

I'd just ask her simply (preferably when she's nearly asleep) what her best memory is and work from there :) Good luck!!

PS I would def have champagne on ice though, that's a no-brainer :) - Lanson is around £15 in tesco at the moment :)

I go with champagne on a beach in the sunset. Or on top of a mountain with a spectacular view.

Congratulations an good luck - I love romance!

Don't see the point anymore in offering advice to people who only want to be agreed with...

    So I guess I'm a budget date and you're a cheap date ;)

I have way too many memories of very bad hangovers to drink cider again :)

How about the champagne bar at the top of Tower42 in London? Afterwards you can nip round the corner to Hatten Garden to buy the ring. And then have a swish dinner in the evening & off to a hotel. Breakfast the next day & perhaps a stroll round one of the parks with an M&S picnic & more bubbly or if its raining a (free) trip to the Tate, strolling across the wobbly bridge to St Paul's before making your way home to tell the folks.

Cheapest champagne is (was) 40 quid a bottle. The bar isn't that pretty, but the views are fabulous. You used to have to give 24hrs notice to visit (post 9/11) but can check that on internet, also because you can't just turn up it's not usually that crowded during the day.

down on one knee of course.....with a big rock in your hand, attached to a gold band of course.

Top tip for size- get a hold of a ring she wears on a ring finger and see if a 5p piece fits it,that's what a mate did to get the right size;)
